Paying no heed to them, Prakash flung two CNG stickers towards the front of the room, where Kejriwal was sitting with Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Transport Minister Gopal Rai. The stickers fell in the middle of the media room, a considerable distance away from Kejriwal. With all the cameras in the room focused on him, Prakash managed to fling a black shoe before he was restrained by AAP workers. As they dragged him out of the room, Prakash shouted, “My name is Ved Prakash and I am from the Aam Aadmi Sena.”

Prakash was later arrested and charged under various section of the IPC.

According to police, Prakash is the national general secretary of the Aam Aadmi Sena and a resident of outer Delhi’s Begumpur. “He is being questioned,” said a police officer.

After the press conference, Rai told reporters such “frustrated reactions” were expected in the run-up to the odd-even scheme. “We have already taken action on the findings of the sting,” said Rai.

The BJP and AAP took potshots at each other over the incident, with the latter claiming that Prakash was “ in touch with the BJP, particularly with a leader of the Delhi BJP unit”.

“It will be better for the BJP to voluntarily disclose its link with the attacker and its paid front — the so-called Aam Aadmi Sena,” said the AAP.

Delhi BJP spokesperson Harish Khurana, meanwhile, claimed that Prakash attended the last session of Delhi Assembly for three days on the reference of Bawana MLA, also named Ved Prakash.

Responding to the BJP’s claim, AAP spokesperson Deepak Bajpai said, “The BJP is cooking up stories… This attack was planned and undertaken to divert attention from the odd-even scheme.”

AAP MLA Ved Prakash was unavailable for comment.
