{seasonal style} 10 Non-Traditional Fall Color Palettes For Every Home

I love autumn - sweaters and jackets, crisp air, farmers markets and pumpkin patches, and of course, fall leaves! But in Denver, the season never lasts as long as I want it to. It seems like just as the leaves are changing we get an early snow and the branches are stripped bare. This year I've decided to make the most of autumn in Denver by bringing the season inside, as well.

In the past, I haven't really decorated for fall. When I was growing up, my mom always talked about wanting a white kitchen so that she would have a neutral palette for decorating for each of the seasons and holidays. Our home is far from neutral, so I used to think that my style didn't lend itself well to seasonal decor.

Our living room {which I gave you a tour of last week} has a cool color palette of greys and teals {my favorite colors}, with pops of bright pink. I love this color combo, but last year when fall rolled around and the outside landscape transformed to shades of orange and gold, the contrast between outside and inside began to feel a bit jarring to me. Walking through the front door in October and being greated by pink pillows and flowers didn't feel right. I sighed, thinking to myself that there was no way to bring the feeling of fall into our living room... then I asked myself why not?!

While the traditional brown, rust and orange fall color scheme might not look great in my teal and grey room, I realized there was no reason I couldn't bring fall in to our home with a less traditional color scheme. I did some image searching online for inspiration and I came across a gorgeous photo of a teal bridge leading to forest of fall leaves - and just like that, I had found my color palette!

In a couple of weeks I'll be participating in a fall home tour with a whole bunch of other super talented bloggers, and you'll have a chance to see how I've incorporated orange and gold into our teal living room for the fall. I've also chosen a slightly different color scheme for our kitchen, which you'll just have to wait to see.

No matter the colors of your home decor, there is sure to be a way to incorporate a feeling of fall if you are willing to think a little outside of the box. Below I have put together nine additional non-traditional fall color palettes that you might want to consider!
