Manish Sisodia meets Najeeb Jung, seeks help in solving crisis

As civic employees continued their strike, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday met worker unions’ followed by a meeting with Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung.

“MCD strike continues despite govt released Rs 693 cr for salaries. I’m meeting emp. unions, Mayors, LG today. Trying to meet HM & UD Min also,” he tweeted.

Sisodia said the meeting with Jung was “positive”. He said the government had appealed to the Lt Governor to intervene in the matter and also informed him about the various measures taken by the government.

Meanwhile, Sisodia also wrote to Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain saying, “Municipal Corporation Doctor’s Association has submitted a representation, that in view of the menace of recurrent non-payment of salaries and repeated agitation of doctors of both north and east corporations for the past one year, (they) may be taken over by the Delhi government as a permanent solution.”

He asked Jain to examine issues related to taking over hospitals under the north corporation — Bara Hindu Rao, Kasturba, RBIPMT, Balak Ram, G L Maternity, Lala Hansraj Gupta in Rohini, and Swami Dayanand Hospital — under the east corporation.

The Public Works Department (PWD), which was pressed into service to clear garbage from the city, reported more than 75 per cent clearance of garbage dumps from 22 locations in the east zone. Constituencies such Ghonda and Gokulpuri reported 95 and 86 percent garbage clearance Thursday evening.
