“We have undertaken the task and they will be implemented within this tenure of the Awami League government,” he said on Sunday in a programme at Bangladesh Computer Council in Dhaka.
He elaborated on the government’s achievement of its goal to connect 4,500 unions using fibre-optic links for speedy internet access, adding the BTCL has already connected 1,000 unions.
The planning ministry has taken initiatives to bring another 1,000 unions under the network. “Work of connecting the rest of the unions will be given to the private sector.”
“We have only started work. We have a lot of plans to take the country ahead. We dream far.”
He was speaking at the launch of 500 applications developed to enable people to avail government services using mobile phones.
