John Boehner Hugs Nancy Pelosi For 25 Years Of Service (VIDEO)

WATCH: John Boehner Shows Nancy Pelosi Some Bipartisan Affection

For a few minutes on Thursday afternoon, the partisan toxicity that pervades the House of Representatives subsided, as lawmakers gathered on the floor to honor Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's 25th anniversary as a member of the body.

The California Democrat and former House speaker listened to tributes from House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) and House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).

On Pelosi's 25 years, Hoyer said, "Some celebrate, others note."

Boehner then took the floor and spoke of the good personal relationship he has with Pelosi.

"As many of you may know, the gentlelady and I have a very, very workable relationship," Boehner said. "I can tell colleagues on both sides of the aisle that I enjoy my relationship with her, and enjoy our ability to work together."

After Boehner's tribute, Pelosi got out of her seat, walked into the well of the chamber and got a hug from Boehner.

"I am thoroughly surprised today; had absolutely no idea [of] the mischief that Mr. Hoyer was up to," Pelosi said afterward.

After Pelosi's speech, the House promptly returned to a contentious, partisan debate about health care cost reductions.
