“We want people to tell us whether or not they want odd-even to return, if yes then when — February 14, March 1, April 1, May 1; for how many days should it be implemented — 15 days or 30 days; 15 days every month or permanent; whether or not they will buy a second car if odd-even returns; whether the exemptions granted under the scheme need to be reviewed, and other suggestions,” he said.

Kejriwal added that MLAs will hold meetings in the city’s 70 Assembly constituencies on February 6 and 7 to get feedback from people. “Earlier, many had said people will go against the AAP for implementing odd-even. But we knew people will accept it because we did not formulate the policy sitting in AC rooms. We asked people how to implement it. I salute the people of Delhi for making it successful,” he said.

The AAP government has attributed the “success” of the first phase mainly to people’s determination to make it work. “In other countries where odd-even was implemented, it was seen that about three to five per cent of people opted to buy new cars. Everywhere else it was unpopular. But the odd-even experiment in Delhi was unique. What people say about it will be an eye-opener for us,” said Kejriwal.

The CM added that during odd-even, Metro services saw an increased traffic of about 0.4 per cent and bus services saw a 7 per cent increase in ridership.
