Eagles' Doug Pederson gives glowing review of Carson Wentz's first practices

Eagles rookie quarterback and the No. 2 overall choice in last month's NFL Draft, Carson Wentz, took part in his first practices during the team's rookie minicamp last weekend and head coach Doug Pederson came away very impressed.

ESPN NFL insider Sal Paolantonio reported on SportsCenter Tuesday morning, prior to the Eagles first OTA of Phase 2 of the offseason program that Pederson texted him a scouting report based off of Wentz's first round of practices with fellow draft picks, rookie free agents and tryout players.

Here is what Pederson told Paolantonio:

During the portion of practice that was open to the media, Wentz showed off plus-arm strength and an ability to make strong, accurate throws on the run. Granted, there was not even a simulated pass rush during those drills, but he showed glimpses of why the Eagles acted so aggressively to acquire him.

The next test for Wentz will be how he handles a practice with the full roster, including incumbent veteran Sam Bradford who requested a trade and was absent from a round of voluntary practices and workouts after the Eagles pulled off a blockbuster trade with the Cleveland Browns to move up from No. 8 overall to No. 2 to select Wentz.

Bradford, Wentz, Pederson will meet the media on Tuesday.
