Parking: Coach/minibus parking is sign posted at the arena. Ample car parking is available. Both are highlighted on the venue map attached to this pack (Page 5).

Toilets are located in the club-house, near the main parking area and in the secondary changing room block. Shelter can also be found within the main clubhouse, the café, or in the changing rooms. Space for shelter is limited however, so we do ask that you take into account fellow competitors.

Arrival: Please report to the TD desk on arrival to receive any new instructions or any changes to this information. The TD desk will be situated behind the main clubhouse, facing the astro-turf pitches. There will not be a separate captain’s meeting, but every team should make sure that a representative checks in on arrival. If you don’t, don’t blame us when you don’t know what’s going on!

Times:  Games will run from approx 9-5pm both days.

Showers/Changing rooms: Each university has been allocated a separate changing room (1st and 2nd teams will share the same changing room) which will have changing and showering facilities. In order to enter these changing rooms a representative from each team must leave a £20 cash deposit with the sports arena front desk (situated in the main clubhouse). This deposit will be exchanged for an access card which will guarantee that only those on your team will have access to this room.

The deposit will then be returned in exchange for the keycard at the end of the weekend (or earlier, should the team wish).

If teams have any questions about this process, or need any help, please ask at the TD desk situated at the back of the main clubhouse.

Queries: Any queries during the tournament should be brought to the TD desk or to any Uclan volunteer who will be wearing either a blue Bavaria playing shirt or a red Uclan Ultimate hooded top.

Paper and Printing

We DON’T intend to print out schedules and copies of this pack for every team. Please make sure you bring your own (or ensure you can access it through your phone) if you need a copy. There will be a large up to date copy at the TD desk throughout the weekend of course.

Food and Drink

There is a café on site serving a limited selection of hot food. This is open from 9am-5pm on both days and is shown on the map. There are also additional vending machines selling drinks and small snacks in the main clubhouse. Please be aware that there is NO card machines or anywhere to get cash out at the venue.

The nearest shops are a short drive away:

Booths - 1 Woodplumpton Road, Preston, PR2 2LN  (5mins drive, 1.7miles)

Spar - 439 Blackpool Road, Preston, PR2 2DU (5mins drive, 1.7miles)

The nearest petrol station is:

Murco Petroleum - Tag Lane Service Station, Tag Lane, Preston, PR2 7AB (4mins drive, 1.5miles)

A large water container will be provided for each team, please collect this from the TD desk upon arrival. Teams will be able to refill this from the clubhouse and taps located in the changing rooms.

Please do not leave your litter lying around. No one wants to pick up your discarded banana skin at the end of the day. Each team will be provided with a black bin liner upon arrival, we would be grateful if you could dispose of your litter in this.

Accommodation

Accommodation for those teams who requested it is being provided by members of the Uclan team. Contact will be made with your team representatives providing names, contact details and locations of accommodation, before the tournament. For any teams arriving on Saturday with queries about their accommodation, please ask at the TD desk. For those arriving on Friday please contact David Wilson on the above details.

Normal tournament etiquette applies - please be respectful of your hosts’ houses and bring sleeping bags/roll mats, etc, for the night. Please shower at the venue.

There are many restaurants/pubs/take aways available in Preston - please ask your host for details of those nearest your accommodation.

A few student favourites:

Roper Hall - Scream pub - 118 Friargate, Preston, PR1 2EE

The Greyfriar - Wetherspoons - 144 Friargate, Preston, PR1 2EJ

Nando’s - 30-31 Cheapside, Preston, PR1 2AP

Spirit of the game

Spirit scores will be entered through an online form, which can be found here:

http://goo.gl/G5V2Kg

You should be able to access the form on your smartphone (or one of your team-mates’ phones – some models seem to struggle more than others) and facilities will be available at the TD desk to input your scores if you can’t get it to work – but be aware there may be a queue for just one laptop there! Use your phone if you can.

Please enter scores as promptly as you are able – in particular, we expect to award a spirit trophy based on the results that have been entered before the presentation. If you fail to enter your scores on the day, it is of course still worth entering them later as it improves the feedback your opponents receive, but if you can enter them on the day it would be far better.

(If you end up, a week after the tournament, with the highest spirit – but someone else took the trophy – that’s hard luck I’m afraid. Take it up with the teams who submit late!)

Medical

First aid will be provided by either the venue staff or St John’s Ambulance, please notify any Uclan volunteer of injuries. We are hoping to also have volunteer sports therapists/physios on site.

For serious incidents, the nearest hospital is:

Royal Preston Hospital - Sharoe Green Lane North, Fulwood, Preston, Lancashire, PR2 9HT

Telephone: 01772 716565

(approximately 4.2miles, 11mins drive away)

Or call 999 for an ambulance.

Schedule

The schedule will be released separately when ready.

The tournament will be played under the 2013 WFDF rules.

All other game rules, game lengths and formats are explained on the schedule itself.

We wish you the best of luck for the weekend and hope you have a great time.
