Cody Walker will not be in Fast 8, Universal confirms

There's no plan to bring Paul Walker's brother on board again

Universal Pictures has squashed rumors that Paul Walker's brother, Cody, will be making an appearance in Fast 8.

"There's no truth behind it," a rep from Universal Pictures told Polygon.

After Paul Walker was killed in a car crash during the production of Furious 7, his brother Cody was asked to stand in for him during a couple of scenes so they could finish the movie.

The rumors about Cody's involvement in the next film began after Movie News Guide noticed that his name was added to the IMDB credits for Fast 8, which at the time was being referred to as Furious 8.

Additionally, an interview the vice chairman of NBC Universal, Ron Meyer, gave Variety back in October seemed to suggest he would be staying on.

Meyer told the magazine that although Paul wouldn't be in future movies, he would be "represented in some form or another."

Despite this, Universal Pictures confirmed there was no merit behind any of the rumors and that as of right now, Cody wasn't involved with the eighth picture. His name is also no longer on the IMDB page.

Fast 8, which is being helmed by Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray, is the first film in the series without Paul Walker's character, Brian O'Connor. It's scheduled to hit theaters on April 14, 2017.
