Tengda N8000: affordable quad-core smartphone

tengda n8000 photoLittle is known about the manufacturer or even the brand name but you’re getting one of the best value for money smartphone we've seen with the Tengda N8000 model.

2014 should see quad-core processor smartphones becoming the mainstream as we can see some flagships moving in to the octa-core realm later on in the year. Whereas 1GB or 2GB RAM should be the minimum so there would be no lags in running multiple apps or games on the smartphone.

Tengda seems to tick most of the boxes for this N8000 model with a measurement of 150 x 77 x 8mm (5.91 x 3.03 x 0.31 in) and weighs at 165 g. The design of the phone is indeed minimalistic, with curves in all the right places.

Then you have the 5.5-inch TFT capacitive touch screen displaying 960 x 540 pixels which makes for a pretty decent display. With the huge screen, some images and texts might not be that sharp unless you zoom in a little bit.

The N8000 is using the Mediatek MTK6582 chipset, a Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 processor, Mali-400 GPU and 1GB RAM which might not make it the fastest phones out there, but it is still better than most mid-range phones available in the market right now.

A rather generous 13 Megapixel primary camera of up to 4096 X 3072 pixels resolution plus flashlight
and auto focus really makes for some good photos while on the go. It also has a 5 Megapixel secondary camera for your video call’s needs.

It is running on Android Jelly Bean 4.2 with no foreseeable updates in the near future. You can forget about official updates since the manufacturer does not have a track record of updating their phones. You might also not have a modder who’s passionate enough to ‘unofficially’ provide an update unless the modder is willing to spend some time with coming up with an update.

A rather measly 4GB internal storage is available so having an available microSD slot which allows up to a maximum of 16GB of additional space is really appreciated since microSD card is very cheap nowadays.

Battery-wise, quite a huge 3400mAh is powering up the phone which means that you are sure to get at least a day or two of life in between charging.

Tendga might not be a household name just yet but the one thing they have done well is on the pricing, giving users what they need in terms of the right balance between power and value. You will be getting a very good chipset, processor and memory while keeping the price low. Plus not forgetting the really good camera and huge battery.

The Tengda N8000 is available for approximately $126 USD or close to the equivalent in your market and is only available in black and is now currently available in stores nationwide.
