SWUOOR Feb 2015 Information Pack

We look forward to seeing you at SWUOOR Feb 15 at BCFC in Cheltenham.  We hope you will have an enjoyable and competitive weekend, and we believe the information contained in this pack will facilitate this. Contact details for the organisers are included if you do have further questions.

Tournament director:          Chris Billingham  chrisbillingham08@gmail.com  07854941650

UK Ultimate Events Coordinator:         Benji Heywood                 benji.heywood@ukultimate.com

Venue

Address: Bishops Cleeve Football Club, Kayte Lane, Bishops Cleeve, Cheltenham, Glos GL52 3PD

Directions: From the North - Junction 9 M5

From the South West: Junction 11, M5

From the East

Parking: Available onsite and with overflow in the field directly opposite. For Saturday all teams need to park in the overflow field opposite the club as there are two football matches on in the afternoon. Parking for the teams and supporters may well fill the immediate carparking. That said, there is lots and lots of space so there won’t be a shortage.

On sunday all on site parking is available. Toilets and showers are onsite in the club house

Food and drinks will be available on site all day. There is a fully licensed bar, but they are not expecting to host a party so the bar will be closed by 7 at the latest, possibly earlier.

Arrival: Please report to the TD desk which will be situated in the main room/bar in the clubhouse on arrival to receive any new instructions or any changes to this information. There will not be a separate captain’s meeting, but every team should make sure that a representative checks in on arrival. If you don’t, don’t blame us when you don’t know what’s going on!

Times:  Games will run from 9am to 5pm on Saturday, and from 9am to 5pm on Sunday. Exact timings will be available on the day as we are awaiting schedule to complete this.

Paper and Printing

We DON’T intend to print out schedules and copies of this pack for every team. Please make sure you bring your own (or ensure you can access it through your phone) if you need a copy. There will be a large up to date copy at the TD desk throughout the weekend of course.

Food and Drink

There is a café on site called socca snax, serving hot food and drinks, which will be open from 10 both mornings until around 4 or if trade dries up. The bar will be open from lunchtime until 7 at the latest.

Within a mile of the club, the village of Bishops Cleeve has a large Tesco extra, a Lidl opposite, a really good chippie and a couple of other take aways.

Water will be available at pitch side. We will endeavour to keep two large bottles of water per pitch filled for you to fill your water up from. There is also a tap in the clubhouse which you can use to fill your bottles.

Please do not leave your litter lying around. No one wants to pick up your discarded banana skin at the end of the day. Black bin bags will be provided, please use them!

Accommodation

Unfortunately, there is no accommodation on Friday night.

As for Saturday night, we are trying to arrange scout huts to provide cheap accommodation. We are still arranging this but will need to know from you directly if you need accommodation. How many of you and what your budget is. Please report to the TD to sort this during the day on Saturday so we can give you directions/details of what accommodation is available.

Spirit of the game

Spirit scores will be entered through an online form, which can be found here:

http://goo.gl/G5V2Kg

You should be able to access the form on your smartphone (or one of your team-mates’ phones – some models seem to struggle more than others) and facilities will be available at the TD desk to input your scores if you can’t get it to work – but be aware there may be a queue for just one laptop there! Use your phone if you can.

Please enter scores as promptly as you are able – in particular, we expect to award a spirit trophy based on the results that have been entered before the presentation. If you fail to enter your scores on the day, it is of course still worth entering them later as it improves the feedback your opponents receive, but if you can enter them on the day it would be far better.

(If you end up, a week after the tournament, with the highest spirit – but someone else took the trophy – that’s hard luck I’m afraid. Take it up with the teams who submit late!)

Medical

First aid will be provided by the Red Cross. Ice will be available from the TD on the day.

For serious incidents, the nearest hospital is:

Cheltenham General Hospital, Sandford Road, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire GL53 7AN

Telephone: 0300 422 2222

Or call 999 for an ambulance.

Schedule

The schedule will be released when ready - sorry! There are likely to be late dropouts from this event, and so we are unable to publish promptly.

The tournament will be played under the 2015 WFDF rules.

All other game rules, game lengths and formats are explained on the schedule itself.
