EXCLUSIVE: Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are in talks to come aboard Where’s Waldo, the live-action MGM film based on the Classic Media franchise about the wool hatted-kid you spot in the crowd. Rogen and Goldberg will become producers with their Point Grey partner James Weaver. Talks have been going on in the past week and the deal is getting closer. The studio and Classic Media are setting Kyle Hunter & Ariel Shaffir to write it. They are proteges of Rogen and Goldberg, who’ll steer it through development. MGM acquired screen rights in 2011.
Created by Martin Handford and first published in 1987, Where’s Waldo? is one of the most recognizable characters in the world and a pop-culture icon. A publishing phenomenon with more than 55 million books sold worldwide, Where’s Waldo books are available in more than 38 countries and have been translated into more than 30 languages.
