Bulldog Briefs 2016 - Rd 6 summary and club news

Dear Members, sponsors and supporters,

Another challenging day last Saturday against Vermont FC, for all three teams. The seniors and reserves displayed good fight and we can take positives away. If we learn from mistakes and keep working on the elements that hurt us results wont be far away. The U19s met a very strong team, but kept their heads up throughout.

Off-field the South Croydon Olympics were held on Saturday evening and were enjoyed by all who attended. Special thanks to the players who organized the event.

Obviously the club needs successful events that can be enjoyed by all members, but its important that the club always meets its licensing obligations.

On this note, we would take this opportunity to clarify our some aspects of our liquor license. For example did you know that our license prescribes that we only serve members or guests of members. Non members are required to sign our visitors book each time they enter the social rooms, whereas financial club members do not.

Also our license prescribes that persons under the age of 18 years are permitted on the licensed premises other than in the company of a responsible adult in relation to preparation for and participation in sporting activities only. This approval does not include social activities but does include presentation functions. The approval applies during the trading hours specified above but no later than 10 p.m. on any day.

Did you also know that all our bar volunteers are provided with Responsible Serving of Alcohol training?

It's important that we all have fun and socialise at our club, but it's equally important that we promote a safe and responsibly drinking environment whenever we can.

Finally the club has a set of club policies that all players, supporters and members should be aware of. These are located on our website and regularly reviewed. You can look at a copy of the club's policies in the Report/Polices tab on the website or think this link - Club Policies.

Go doggies!

Seniors
While the result was a loss, a much more determined effort by the players against the top team. There were many positives, and we must continue to learn the way Patch wants us to play, while eliminating our costly turnovers. If we keep producing the intensity of the last quarter throughout the game, and refining our skills, the results will improve. Watch a reply of last Saturday's game at the EFL Match Footage Hub.
Senior Results/Best players
Development Squad
One quarter is where the game was lost the - the effort and competitiveness, particularly in the second half was excellent, against the top team. The boys fought hard in the second half and match the Eagles. What a difference it made to have an older wiser head on the field helping out the younger boys - thanks to Brad O'Brien for filling in and leading the way. A few more players of Brad's 'vintage' would really help this team improve. If we can sustain a four quarter effort and cut out the lapses the results will come.
Development Squad Results/Best players
Under 19s
The lads tried hard, however beaten by a bigger/strong/older team. Some really positive patches / pressure applied which had the opposition looking over their shoulders. Let's forget the back chat to umpires - no one wins that game.
Enjoy the break and come back ready to knock over Knox on our home deck!
Under 19s Results/Best players
Netball - Rd 4
The girls came up against Whitehorse on Friday night.
The game went goal for goal in the first 3 quarters, until Whitehorse were able to get away for a win in the last.
Despite looking awesome in the new SC netball dresses it wasn’t enough to get the team over the line.
Keep working girls and the wins will come.
Remember the  first option in netball is the best, especially as the umpires are getting tough on holding the ball.

Club Community News

* The EFL has entered into a partnership with United Petroleum to deliver competitive fuel pricing to all EFL Club members. Importantly it also includes a Club Rewards Program that can be of significant financial benefit to clubs.

All clubs are automatically registered to the program though their EFL affiliation. Our members and supporters can then register on-line for a Club Rewards Fuel Discount Card.Make sure you nominate South Croydon Football and Netball Club

When filling up at selected United Petrol Stations, the cardholder will receive a 2 cent per litre discount off petrol at the bowser while an additional 2 cents per litre will be rebated back to your nominated club.

With no limit on the number of users that can register and businesses purchasing fuel regularly including trades people, truck drivers, courier companies or businesses that use large amounts of fuel, the potential for our club to generate strong returns through counter sale transactions is significant.

As a further incentive to help launch the program, the first 10 clubs who sign up and have 50 active users (50 litres of petrol purchased), will receive four Yellow KB Sherrin Training balls compliments of United Petroleum.

To sign up and for more information head to United Petroleum website by clicking on the image below.

This week

No senior footy this weekend - it's the bye for Division 1/2 clubs due to the Inter-league match, so there is no reason not to go and watch the Friday night netball! The girls take on Ringwood Black - 9.25 pm at Rowville Court 3 - Get along and support if you can!

On Sunday the Vets travel to Scoresby for their Rd 4 clash against the team that eliminated them from the finals last year. Should be a cracker - try and get to Scoresby Rec Reserve and give them some support.

If you really need a local footy fix on Saturday, Ringwood FC is allowing free entry to their game against The Basin,
to any member of a Division 1/2 Club who present their 2016 membership card. See it does pay to be a member!

Woof Woof!
