A solid understanding of American history should not neglect the influence of religion on the American founding. Unfortunately, this topic is often overlooked in history and government classes due to lack of resources and/or understanding, misinformation, or fear of exploring the topic.
Please join us on Saturday, October 25th, 2014 for a professional development teacher's workshop hosted by the American Heritage Education Foundation (AHEF), the Center for Law & Liberty at Houston Baptist University, and the HBU School of Education. This half-day workshop will explore the influence of religious principles on our nation's founding. Three scholars from HBU will discuss the connection between Judeo-Christian values and American founding principles through an examination of documents such as the Mayflower Compact, the Declaration of Independence, and the U.S. Constitution. The program is open to educators from both public and private schools, and it will be of particular interest to History and Government teachers.
