The winners of the 17th annual National Open Art competition have been announced and will go on display at the Royal College of Art in London for the first time. The top prize of £10,000 was presented to Graeme Wilcox for his work Two Brothers.

A prize of £10,000 was also awarded to Michael Vogt for his work H33 Mantegna, which was named as the winner of the Prudential Award for the Finest Photograph in 2013.

The Naylor Award for Photography was awarded to Rosalind Bates for Blue Sky Thinking.

The awards, sponsored by Towry, attracted the highest ever number of entries this year. The panel of judges included art critic Brian Sewell, Scots painter Barbara Rae and gallerist Michael Hoppen.

In total 22 prizes were won, including nine regional prizes. Joe Liam Reddy, a 19-year-old arts student from London was honoured twice. His Hidden Beauty Triptych (top-left), detailing a quarry in Yorkshire, won the young photographer's award.

His surreal work Hand I, (left) also earned him a Piran Strange Award for young artists. Singapore-born Kara Chin, also 19, was also honoured for her work Order (right). She is currently studying for her A-Levels at school in Chester.

The Arts Club Dover Street Award was given to Ian Hodgson for Chrysalis 1 (right) while Gawain Barnard was a regional winner from Wales.

All the winning works will be on display at The Royal College of Art, London, from 25 October - 7 November and will then go on a UK tour.
