Instructions from CCAAC:

Our "Child Care is a Right" project, which exposes Canada's failure to meet its international treaty obligations to women, children and families as they relate to child care, has sent a delegation to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child. There, at the invitation of the UN, our advocates reported on Canada's lack of progress in providing affordable, accessible, quality child care.

The project also produced the Declaration for a Child Care System in Canada, and shared it with the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child. The Declaration, which includes endorsements by supporters of the child care advocacy movement, is a powerful document that calls on the federal, provincial and territorial governments of Canada to fulfill their human rights commitments with regard to child care.

In the lead-up to the upcoming UN Child Rights Review this fall, where representatives of the Governments of Canada will respond to the Committee's ongoing review of developments in our country, we all have an opportunity to advance our call for a Child Care System in Canada.

With this 1 minute action you can help build momentum by adding your organization to the list of endorsers for the Declaration. Forward this information to your networks and spread the word.

To become a signatory to the Declaration, send an email to our project partner, the Coalition of Child Care Advocates of BC at info@cccabc.bc.ca with the subject line, Child Care is a Right.

Please provide your organization's name (in both official languages) as well as the name, title and contact information of the person authorizing your organization's support for the Declaration.
