They were rumoured to have secretly married following a cryptic Instagram post.

And whilst Miley Cyrus, 24, and Liam Hemsworth, 27, have done nothing to quell speculation they have tied the knot, the couple sparked new whispers they are planning on starting a family soon.

Pictures obtained exclusively by MailOnline show the pair have begun work extending their Malibu ranch with the hopes of creating a children's playground and creche.

One of the studios on the lot has been turned into a ‘play area’ - whilst Miley has scrawled ‘You R My [Sun]Shine’ on the wall of the music studio. She’s also added large toys - such as a life-size dinosaur next to the pool - around the estate making it look more like a children’s playground than a garden.

Liam paid $6.8 million in July 2014 for the three-bed, three-bathroom property, set in 7.4 acres. And last year, Miley snapped up the $2.5 million property right beside boyfriend Liam’s place. 

In total, the couple have a combined 10 acres, two houses, music and writing studios, swimming pool and barn in their sprawling estate.

MailOnline have contacted representatives for Miley and Liam for comment.

Rumours that the couple are considering starting a family come just days after they sent fans into a frenzy by hinting they had secretly married.  

The speculation all started on Thursday night, after Miley's father Billy Ray Cyrus shared a screenshot of a digital camera containing an image of Miley beaming on screen in the white frock, which he captioned: 'I'm so happy...you are happy @mileycyrus'.

Fans quickly started to wonder if Miley had married her fiance Liam based on her white ensemble. 'Wedding??' one follower asked in the comments, as another asked, 'Omg is that a wedding dress?'

By Saturday, the Achy Breaky Heart singer had uploaded the same image of Miley with the caption: 'Whoa! Don't jump the gun. Been at work #StillTheKing Glad to see so many love @MileyCyrus the same as I do #happy'.

Miley's mother Tish was also quick to shoot down the rumours, telling ET Online 'If Miley was getting married, it would not be in that dress!', whilst the starlet's sister Brandi added 'I was like in that top?! What are you, crazy?!'

'She would have had some fabulous wedding dress, not just like frilly top she was wearing in a photo.'

Miley and Liam first started dating in 2009 after meeting on the set of The Last Song. They became engaged in 2012 but broke things off soon after, only to rekindle their romance years later.  

'At the time we were going in different directions and it's just what needed to happen. We were both super young and it was a good decision at the time — we both needed that,' Liam told to GQ Australia last year.  

The pair reunited in 2015 and the relationship seems to be going strong ever since.
