Kissing Trouble

Rate this book
Escaping into the wilderness should have been a piece of cake for a super-babysitter like Julie Brewer. Three kids, one month, what could possibly go wrong? Except maybe the unexpected arrival of the one man she’d never been able to quite get over. Even if he had broken her heart once already.

Mason Brody was just looking for a weekend with the boys. Getting nearly clobbered by a baseball wasn’t as shocking as the sight of Julie again. After the way things had ended between them the last time, he never expected to see her again.

But there was so much more than just their past between them. There was a dark force lurking in the shadows, waiting for the chance to appease its hunger for death and it will stop at nothing until it’s fed. Now, they just have to survive the night long enough to see the future.

Can Mason and Julie keep the evil at bay long enough to escape?
Or will the monster add their lives to its list?

Blog Tour Post: The Shadow Realm

Oh lord *fans self* I need to cool down. Someone get me a drink. And something to cool down my kindle too, I can see the steam rising from it. Lord, Airicka you really know how to write the smexy don’t cha ;) I’m so glad I didn’t read this in public because I don’t think I would have been able to hide the blush that dominated my face for most of the book. Seriously ladies, brace yourselves for Mason because holy wow. Yum. I want one. I fell in love with this man straight away. Airicka has written another phenomenal book boyfriend that had me swooning every time he appeared.

But enough about Mason. Julie needs some attention too because I think I’m in love with that girl too. She was Bad. Ass. Like seriously cool. I loved watching her kicking the shit out people. You go girl! You awesome :) The chemistry Mason and Julie had was great, and as I’ve mentioned, they had some seriously hot scenes. Ladies you do not want to read this book in public. You have been warned :P

But even though the book is very romance heavy, there were also some very chilling and intense scenes that will have you on the edge of your seat. Especially coming near the end of the book, I could not put my kindle down. I was hooked! You will be second guessing throughout most of the book as to who the bad guy was. There were plenty of twists and turns to keep you biting your nails in anticipation. Ms. Phoenix really knows how to write suspenseful, thrilling books so I cannot wait for more like this from her.
I have to give a shout out to the secondary characters, one in particular. Shaun. That guy was such an asshole throughout the book. I really wanted to sucker punch him. He pissed me off to no end. But by the end I actually found myself growing a bit of a soft spot for him and wanted to know more about him. So I am now gonna bribe Airicka with cookies to make her write a book about him :P I want more from Shaun.

Overall this was another gloriously addictive read from a fantastic author. A psychological thriller that packs a sexy punch. This is one book that will keep you up all night. A must read!

Had I not had to go to work today - this book would have been knocked out in a few hours. Ms. Phoenix has done it again.

Kissing Trouble - Julie & Mason - where on earth do I begin.
This story took me down twists and turns that I didn't really expect. I literally found myself YELLING at my Kindle while I was reading!! "NO, STOP!! Don't go there!!! HOLY HELL!! NOOOOO!!!" Yeah, it was like that.

I have to say that these characters are some of my favorites. Julie is the type of confident woman that I think we all have inside. Caring, motivated, and a take no sh*t kind of girl. Able to stand on her own two feet, an amazing caregiver to the Vance kids, and is also willing to recognize that love is what she longs for. Beautiful, smart, strong, and sexy...she really has the whole package.

Ms. Phoenix is known for her oh so yummy book boys. And Mason Brody is no exception to that rule. Mason is the kind of guy that every girl wants. He's amazing with kids - as we see with how he handles his cousins, Wendy, Rick, and Dustin. They absolutely adore him!! He's sexy, and sexy, and well....sexy. He has a sort of swagger that makes girls weak in the knees. As we get to see some other side of Mason - whew ladies - that's all I can say. I want to give away so much more - but this is really a man that you need to experience all on your own.

To go along with some amazing lead characters, Ms. Phoenix also has a stellar supporting cast. First - not playing a super major role but still important are the Vance kids, Wendy, Rick, and Dustin. They give a bit of calm craziness to the story which I think is a welcome change as compared to other psychological thrillers that I've read. Then, there are the BFF's. And not Julie's BFF's...but Mason's. Shaun and Luis. Luis - he's a hard one to figure out. Quiet and sweet - and doesn't seem to quite fit in with the other two super confident roomies - Mason and Shaun. But at the same time, he's a perfect compliment to them. Shaun - well what can I say - he's the guy that we all love to hate....and I mean that quite literally. Even after reading the novel, I still can't quite figure out what has drawn Mason Brody to this oh so super a**hole. It's the only thing I can think of when I think of Shaun. He's mean to Julie, super sarcastic, and all around just a jerk. Not one of my favorites - but taking him away from the story would take away so much. He adds a dynamic to the story that is essential. And Ms. Phoenix wrote his character wonderfully.

Characters - check! Amazing story - triple check! It's a psychological thriller. And Ms. Phoenix messed with my mind. Half way through - I was certain I knew who it was...and then - I wasn't. And then I was - and again I wasn't. She kept me guessing....even until the end. I was waiting for the next turn, the next twist, the next event to push me off of the edge of my seat. There's plenty of crazy, plenty of guessing, and plenty of steamy steamy hotness!!! This woman is skilled at writing her drama - and she knows how to write that hotness!! Bring a cold towel with you for this one!! Julie and Mason steam it up - big time!!

To sum it up - you have to read this!! Set aside an evening and treat yourself to a real thriller. I can't wait to see what Ms. Phoenix has in store for the rest of the In The Dark Series!!!

Hehehe

So I really fucking enjoyed this book

Song Choice: Bang Bang by Nancy Sintara, Something in my Heart by Röyksopp

First Thoughts: If you enjoy sexy as hell books with a bit of suspense and MURDER, i think you will really enjoy this ^.^ I know I did, had my heart racing for all sorts of reasons ;) I definitely think this was pretty freaking amazing

Thoughts on Plot: I think this book was a good mix of romance, suspense and thrill. The first half of the book is really to me giving us a good background the story with the love interests history with each other. I honestly felt that I wanted to know what exactly happened a lot sooner, i mean it built suspense and made me come up with some ideas of my own. In the end I get why she was so upset, but mostly his reasons while were honorable sort of annoyed the hell out of me. Moving on! So anyways back to the plot, as always I thought Morgana’s book moved with perfect pace, not too slow and not too fast. I think that it was an overall awesome story, I got lost in it, and I love when that happens. Like I said before I think there is a nice mix between the romance of the story and the action-y part of the story, so if you want both perfect, if you are scared there would be too much horror/suspense/scary-ness don’t be – me arguably the biggest chicken around – made it through ;) But yeah I totally knew it. Just saying. Just sayin’

Characters:

Julie aka Jewels: I think she was sassy, smart, and knew how to take care of herself. She was feminine when she needed to be. She wasn’t afraid to defend herself or stand up for herself. I think she was a great main lady. I really enjoyed her ^.^

Mason: He is pretty damn sexy, a little cocky ;) and he knew how to turn a girl on. I think same he was an easily swoon-able dream boyfriend and he is hot assssss hell. I think that he is a great character and I think he was a fantastic pair for Jewels. Again I disagreed with some of his decisions but that is a man for ya ;) also just well done.

Shaun: he is a prick, seriously, i don't even care, i didn't like him, i still don't like him very much. i feel like there had to be more to his hatred towards Jewels then his hatred for women. part of me wants to see the girl that finally tames the beast, but the other part of me is like nahhh he is too much of an ass

Luis: A-dorkable

oh and those sexy scenes: *fans self*

GIFS for my girl ;)

This book starts on a promising note, but nosedives halfway through never to resurface. I'm not sure where all the shinning reviews came from for this, but I was far, far, far from impressed with the romance and mystery here.

Kickass girl takes in 3 dudes w a bat and wipes the floor with them in a remote cabin. Turns out one is a former love interest that rebuffed, embarrassed her as a teen & also happens to be connected to her job. Meanwhile, in the midst of romance and babysitting, someone is leaving dead animals on the door and a dead body in the yard... •Serial killer alert•

So, I liked the female MC at first; I mean anyone that kicks ass w a baseball bat gets a thumbs up, right. Well, no! Sadly, she soon becomes a bipolar nempho/Pollyanna. One minute her carnal thoughts leave her in a puddle over the {lol} 'bad boy' and the next she's scolding him about blocking off a parking space for her at the expense of another driver. Too extreme personalty shifting for me from goodie two shoes to sex kitten.

The supposed bad boy wasn't very appealing. He let his friend call the girl he's supposed to love a "walking vagina", "bitch" and other unsavory names & all he did in response was tell his buddy to cut it out... Over and over. His buddy even put his hands on her and he did nothing! No way would I get hot and bothered over a dude that let his buddy treat me that way... Period! No sex appeal there!

The male MC also took teasing to an unsexy level. 75% of the book was him teasing her and leaving her not satiated. Again, just isn't on my sexy radar when a guy is a tool and the author takes good old angst and spins it into Chinese torture.

The serial killer mystery? Well, not much. So obvious who was the culprit.

Unrealistic responses. Law enforcement wouldn't leave them, much less force them, to stay at the scene of a murder, especially when they're his prime suspects. Law enforcement wouldn't take their vehicles and leave them stranded an hour from town in a crime scene. The children's mom having zero concern for their safety wasn't realistic either.

I could go on, but really the bottom line is just skip it:(

Morgana Phoenix is a phenomenal author with an amazing imagination. Her description to detail puts the reader right there in the book with the characters. Kissing Trouble is a lil out of this authors element, its different from what I've read before and I think that's what makes it that much more amazing. I really loved the characters, if I had to pick my fave it would prolly be Shaun although he's a complete ass, he's real and he doesn't hide it. Don't get me wrong I liked Mason, he was so hot, but Shaun I think needs a story of his own lol. I really have enjoyed reading this series and cant wait to see what this author comes up with next. I highly recommend this story to any and everyone as you will not be disappointed.

Disengage all distractions, fake a sickie because you will not want to be distracted while reading this book. Ms Phoenix has done it again. She has this uncanny ability to write suspense like its second nature to her. I don't think I'm going to sleep tonight! While some plot points kept me guessing, I knew who the killer was from the start! Not Ms Phoenix's fault. I like putting the clues together and often get it right. She planted the clues perfectly. Kissing Trouble is full of terrifying suspense, steamy romance and relatable, life like characters. I totally recommend this be your next read!

Excuse me while I gather my thoughts after my book-over. My term for hangover, a book-over.

When this book goes live (October 10th, 2014) I am seriously telling you, YES YES read it!! It is a definite must!!

A thriller/mystery/romance/steam everything in my dream book want list. Now, I am sure you all know that I have read everything that came out of Airicka's fingertips, and this book is the exact reason why I still do.

Since it's not due to be released yet, I'm not mentioning anything. I just wanted to let you all know, that this is something you must read. MUST!!!

I didn't read the first book in this series which seems to have a different cast of characters. Julie is in charge of watching three kids while their parents are going through a divorce. She has the kids for a month while living in a secluded cabin. Mason has a history with Julie. The writing is good. The pacing is good and the characters are interesting. This book has a standard suspense plot with a lot of creepiness thrown in as the characters are stuck in a cabin with a murderer on the loose. 4 stars.

you don't need to be Inspector Clousseau to work out who the baddy was in this story. Kept me interested and on the edge of my seat.

Author needs to have someone look a editing as there were some massive spelling errors just a couple of examples: costumer for customer and diseased for deceased.

hell ! before we begin anything please people do not judge this book by its cover or its shity title !!!!
this is a thriller mysterious novel with a lurking psychopath (that i suspected at the beginning of the story ...) ! the main aspect of it is a thriller not some trashy romance
it was amazing , everything felt so good , the writing style , the narrations , the characters and how complex they seemed to be ,the background of our two main protagonists ,
it was hilarious ,sexy ,romantic , funny , spooky ,dramatic .... god it has all my favorite elements
i loved and and enjoyed every chapter
it is a must read !!! and why isn't it so popular ? sometimes i really don't understand how people seem to skim these amazing books for other nonsense ....

I couln´t stand the point of first half of book, when she was 15 it had happened, she couln´t go trough it - it was for me something so immature and annoyed me ... and finally when it started to be more mature it was full of not- not yet I had to give up making desicion to read something more near my cup of tea ...

I really liked the way this author wrote. I would definitely read more of her books. I loved Mason and Julie’s story. Towards the end I kind of thought I knew who did it but you didn’t know throughout the whole book.

Morgana Phoenix has done it again!!!! This book was fan-freaking-tastic!!!! I haven't read a book that I haven't loved of hers. Every time she has a new release, I just can't wait to get my hands on it. I know that whatever she writes will be phenomenal. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Each chapter left me wanting more so I had to keep going. I couldn't put the book down. I loved that Kissing Trouble wasn't predictable. I mean halfway through I started getting a few little hints as who the evil person was, but you have to really pay attention to catch those. There were a few surprises in this book that left completely shocked.

Julie is a character a lot of us can relate to. She is down to earth, caring and kind. Even though her parents seem to be rich, above others, she never let that go to her head. She wasn't into the beauty all the time like her mother wanted her to be. She went to school to be who she wanted to be, and I loved that about her. I also loved how she could kick some major butt which she proved big time when she took all 3 guys down!!! Mason, Shaun and Luis got their butts kicked and I thought that was so hilarious!!! But meeting Mason again has brought up a lot of memories. Memories she can't forget. Mason is an all around great guy. He has loved Julie since high school. But he loved her enough to let her go and live her life until they met again. That there made me fall in love with him even more. His feelings for her were so real that I honestly felt that. She meant the world to him and he didn't want her not to live while he was gone. So when he finally met her again, he did whatever he had to do to get her forgiveness and love. Even with all the bad stuff happening, he put her first. Shaun, Shaun, Shaun. What can I say about Shaun. He is a real jerk, but he has his moments. He really cares for his best friend Mason, and doesn't want anything to come in between their friendship. Mason is all he has. I would love for Shaun to get his own story, because I would love to learn more about him. he was a very interesting character.

Kissing Trouble was a book that I will definitely be rereading as I do with her other books. The characters in this story are so lovable and real that I want more of them!!! Morgana Phoenix always has sexy as hell book boys. Book boys that have become my book boyfriends. The plot was crafted perfectly. I loved how everything was woven together and how it all unfolded. I am hoping that Morgana's next book in this series is about Shaun!!! He is a character I can't wait to get some one on one time with. At the end, I really got see him a new light so I more of him!!! This book is a MUST read and I highly recommend it!!! You will not be disappointed with this book!!! It is a definite reread for me!!!

Full pretty review can be found on bbf-book-boyfriends

Okay, truth first: I struggled with this review ever since I finished that book three days ago. Trust me, it wasn't because the book was bad, but because I simply didn't know what to say except "Whoa!!!!"

So, first things first. I am not a girl who reads thrillers because my heart can't take it. I do make an exception of Mrs. Phoenix is calling my name, asking me as her Dark-Court-Slave to pretty please read her book. (Between us, she most likely will never ask me again as I started to threat her while reading! *winks*) I am glad I read this book even though I was scared of falling asleep. And opening a window. Or the front door. You know, nothing major that could influence my life...

Anyways, Julie is one hell of a female main. She is strong and her bat-wielding powers are the best one yet. Tension between Mason and her is... WOW, I swear, I felt on fire with them, Those two seriously made me breathe hard in certain scenes...
And Mason... Oh, Mason...

I take me a Mason any day of the week... Or any night... Or any week of the month... Or any month of the... Yeah, you get the drift. His protective side, not only around Julie, but the kids as well had me a puddle on the floor before the story really started. The way he treated them all, careful and with respect, oh, and love of course, is just the best thing ever.

For someone who is actually a little clueless about what to write in this review, I sure have written some words, but nothing really convincing yet, so here comes the part WHY you should read this book:
THIS IS AWESOME! It's breath-taking and exciting. It makes your heart jump and ready to run away without you because you can't keep up. This book keeps you at the edge of the seat and even though I seriously am scared easily, I loved every bit of it. I had my suspicions about who'd be the bed guys and I seriously worried that Morgana (a.k.a. Airicka) would totally crush me. I was ready to never speak to her again if, and that is a big if, she'd have ended the book the way I worried. Luckily she didn't. And, since I'm absolutely not clever when it comes to hints as to whom could be the bad guy, I was a lot surprised at the end. This is a Halloween-read you sure can enjoy every day of this year. I am so gonna re-read this book once. Or twice... Or three times.

And just so you know... The book was so awesome I bought it even after getting an ARC-Copy because I find that this book and this author deserve all the support they can get... Airicka Phoenix NEVR EVER disappoints.

Damn, I love that woman (sorry for embarrassing you now with my absolutely public love-declaration... :-P )

A thrilling and suspenseful read! It’s been a while since I read the first book and I was relieved to discover that the books in this series are actually standalones – it was easier to dive into a brand new story rather than try to remember characters from an earlier book and everything that was going on.

The story starts off with a pretty mundane setting. Julie, a young university student, is babysitting three kids for a month in a remote vacation lodge for a family friend. Her planned vacation with the kids is interrupted by the late-night arrival of Mason, a guy she once loved and never thought she would see again. He has shown up with several of his friends and also planned to spend time in the cabin. After a violent encounter and 2am involving the burglar alarm, Julie, Mason and a baseball bat, Julie accept she is stuck with Mason and his friends for the next week or so. Pretty soon weird things start happening (i.e. dead kittens nailed to the doorframe) and it is clear that Julie and her companions are being terrorised. The only question is whether the sadistic pranks are from disgruntled locals with grudges against Mason and his best friend Shaun for their past pranks and destructive behaviour, or if there is a psychopath on the loose.

I won’t give any more of the story away except to say it’s a thrilling story. The initial scene (young girl baby-sitting all alone) had me thinking of When a Stranger Calls so I wasn’t surprised when this turned into quite the scary “who-is-it?” kind of story. It definitely kept me turning pages quickly, trying to relieve some of the ever-mounting suspense. I did see the end coming but that didn’t make the read any less enjoyable. Both Mason and Julie were great characters and I enjoyed getting to know them both. Their romantic relationship and their past history were also really sweet but I’m glad it wasn’t really the focus of the entire book. The only thing I found a bit weird about the book was the way the kids were featured as important characters in the beginning of the story, they just completely dropped out about half-way through and they weren’t involved in the story again at all. I thought for sure that at least Dustin’s character would be more important to the main storyline somehow, but oh well.

Overall this was a pretty good read. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a new adult romance with story mystery/suspense/thriller elements to it with an engaging storyline and awesome main characters.

Kissing Trouble is yet another awesome book from Airicka Phoenix writing as Morgana Phoenix.
Julie was cool character, I liked that we see how kick ass she is from the beginning as she shows us that she is very capable of kicking butt due to her martial arts training and she has a take no sh*t attitude. She was good with the kids, very patient and kind but we see a different side to her when Mason arrives. I love it when friends become something more and the history they shared, fair enough in the beginning we think he broke her heart but he soon explains things to her and it’s just a matter of Julie getting used to seeing things in another way. When she does accept it, their chemistry is HOT…. Mason is definitely a man I could go for, he’s got a dominant streak, he’s attentive, not afraid to say what he wants…. And he wants Julie and spends a lot of time telling her just what he wants which created an amazing sexual tension between the two and that’s not to mention that there are lots of sexy moments to get the pulse racing.
The story is definitely a page turner and one that keeps you gripped from beginning to end as the tension mounts throughout the book and when you’re not being anxious about the horrible events, you’re swooning over Mason alongside Julie. The danger starts off with a gruesome gift and quickly escalates , in the beginning you feel the panic because there are children about but when that changes and Julie is left with Mason and his friends, it gets more atmospheric – especially when anyone could be the villain. I spent most of the book being wrapped up in the hotness of the relationship, it was a sweet relief to the horrors that kept happening, and the other times I spent wracking my brain as to who I thought was the bad guy and I can tell you … it kept me guessing right up until the end. This is another book by this author that could be made into a movie, I could see myself watching this and really enjoying the suspense of it all. It was exciting, atmospheric, suspenseful and filled with both tension of the scary variety and sexual tension all wrapped around a couple on the verge of love that may have to give up everything for the chance to love each other.

Julie desperately needs the money for school, so against her better judgment, she agrees to take the kids she babysits to a cabin for a month as their parents have a nasty divorce. The first night there, three men unexpectedly show up saying they were invited to the cabin as well. One of them just happens to be Julie’s high school crush, Mason, who humiliated her in front of the whole school four years earlier. Julie and Mason had a lot of unresolved history, but it may never be fixed because there is someone else in the woods with them.
As with all Airicka Phoenix books, I really got involved in the characters. Everyone is so well developed, it is as if they are real people I know, not just fictional pieces of imagination. I enjoy her writing style immensely. I will admit that I like the books written under Airicka more than Morgana, mainly because I like a little less descriptive sex since I can fill in the blanks well on my own, and Morgana turns the heat all the way up. That being said, the book was incredibly hot! If you enjoy some sex with your thriller-mystery, here you go.
The story was creepy mystery with twists and turns that I could not always see coming. There was always something new thrown in to keep the reader guessing and horrified. The incidents gathered momentum very quickly, starting with animal torture to murder, and I had no idea where it would go next. There was one very obvious suspect that kept being thrown under the bus for each event, but I had my doubts about them. I had someone else on my radar that I was convinced was the suspect even though the characters never even imagined it. I will admit that I knew who the guilty party was almost from the get go, but I still enjoyed the terror that they brought down on everyone. I liked that the psychological issue was thrown in as well as the history of crimes adding a whole new messed up to the book. Maybe I would say this story was a little less mystery and a whole lot of thriller.
Overall, it was a really good book and I will continue to read any and everything written by Ms. Phoenix. She never fails to get me involved and wanting more.
I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

Julie was only trying to take a relaxing vacation in the woods with her charges while their parents dealt with each other back home. She was not expecting the man who had humiliated her so many years earlier to show up with his friends. Julie thought she could just ignore him the whole week he was there. Until a madman starts to terrorize them scarring them both.

Mason was not expecting to find Julie at the cabin when he asked his friends to go for a week of relaxation and fun. He still loved her, even though he had acted like a complete idiot when she was fifteen. How could he get her to accept his apology and give them a chance? Because of Mason’s past, the sheriff in town refuses to take the pranks seriously until it is too late. With a murderer on the loose and everyone staying at the cabin being a suspect the sheriff tells them not to leave town until the mystery is solved. Now trapped at the cabin with a maniac on the loose the friends must survive until help arrives.

This is the second book in the series and just like with the first I am blown away by the plot and characters. The chemistry between Mason and Julie is electric they cannot seem to walk away from each other without being pulled back again. The fact that there is a sick twisted maniac threatening them does not even put a damper on their passion. Maureen, the mother of the children, makes you want to slap the crap out of her for being an idiot with the safety of her children. While Shaun makes you just want to strangle him in his sleep for being such an asshole.

This author amazes me with her ability to pull you into the story with her characters. You love them, you hate them, and you want to beat the tar out of them. Strong emotions like that only come when you have this kind of story. The mystery had me mentally invested, and the characters had me emotionally invested. Who could ask for more than that in a book. I definitely can't wait for book three to come out. I high recommend this book!

If you haven't put Morgana/Airicka Phoenix on your list of authors that you automatically buy the moment they release a new book, I have to ask...WHY NOT? You can be guaranteed that no matter what she comes out with, it's going to be fantastic...just like Kissing Trouble.

Don't let the relatively tame start of this book fool you. Everything-the romantic and sexual tension, the suspense, the tempers, the raw emotion-all of it starts off simply but gradually builds...and builds...and builds-until that final bursting point where ALL of it comes to a head and the real craziness of this thriller just explodes over the last quarter of the book. And if you think you know what's going on and who the perpetrator is...well, you may want to think again.

The characters of this second stand-alone story in the In The Dark series really come to life off the pages. Julie is a wonderfully strong young woman, capable of taking care of herself and others. Mason is the definition of sexy alpha protective male-the bad boy turning over a new leaf-and you'll be swooning over him for every single page of this story. The secondary characters are very well developed, with their own strong personalities that make each of them stand out in their own way.

And then you have the fabulous writing-keeping you glued to every page, especially the further you get into the book where the suspense just keeps building up. The writing and characters in this author's books are the reason why she is always an automatic buy for me, and Kissing Trouble is no exception.

My recommendation-BUY the book...READ the book...you won't be sorry, and if you haven't read this author before, you're probably going to find yourself with a new favorite. 5 suspense-filled stars for Kissing Trouble!

There are so many things I LOVED about Kissing Trouble. Julie is a bad@$$. When someone comes into the house at night, her first response is to grab a baseball bat and beat the tar out of whoever it is. Once she finds out it's her high school buddies and the guy who crushed her heart, she isn't apologetic. She looks at their busted face, blood everywhere and tells them straight up not to creep around in the dark. No apology for defending the kids in her care. BOOM! Take that every horror movie that has the girl being an idiot and getting "rescued". Mason tried to do the right thing in High School. He knew she was too young for him, they weren't ready. Too bad his best friend Shaun decided he knew the best way to "cure" Mason of Julie. Too bad it included humiliating Julie and putting Mason in an already awkward position. Luis joined Shaun & Mason in college, smoothing some of Shaun's rough edges and blending in nicely. Too bad the quiet week of camping, parting and getting laid is now out the window. His summer plans include terror, murder and it's a shame that Julie and the kids are going to be caught in the crossfire. Sometimes, the best laid plans have to be set aside and reworked. Hopefully for him, Julie and the guys will scream...ALOT.

This was the perfect book to read before Halloween, although it did contribute to me not sleeping much as I got closer to the end. Mason and Julie are steamy hot. Shaun is a great angry best friend and I really want to see him get knocked on his butt by love. Morgana always has great "secondary" characters that steal a part of your heart. Luis is so helpful, he reminds you of a puppy who's been kicked but still wants to play.

"Kissing trouble" was a great read and I am not saying that because I obliged to do that, but because it is my honest opinion. Just look at it's amazing cover.

There was a love story.
A girl, who thought that she was betrayed by her true love.
A guy, who was selfless enough to let her go (when he thought he was doing a right thing).
And their second chance that melted my heart.
I loved Mason's character, very well written book hero. And Julie is just perfect heroine, smart, strong but still sensitive, compassionate and understanding. Their reunion meeting was just hilarious, Julie was a real bada$$.
I think I should also mentioned that book has some pretty steamy scenes, not too much not too few, just enough in my opinion.

There was annoying best friend.
I feel like Shaun deserves to be mentioned in my review as well. What a pain in the b*tt of a best friend. =)) Seemed to me that this guy needs some serious wake up call in the girls and relationships department. (Will there be a story for him?...wink, wink)

There was a mystery.
This part of the book was very interesting, I was guessing back and forth for the killer to slip up and give me a clue of who he was, but the twists of the story kept it well hidden. I honestly can say that I expected the ending I've got, but enjoyed immensely to actually read it.
And of course the best part of it that no one important was gravely injured. (oops, i said too much? well, this might help to gain attention of more sensitive people)

So, yes, my fellow readers, I give my 5 stars and highly recommend Kissing trouble to everyone, you will not be disappointed.

I really enjoyed this latest book by Ms Phoenix. It was definitely my kind of story. It had mystery, suspense, snarky humor, a kickass woman, romance, and... Murder. Mason was so sure of himself, it was so hot. And Shaun was a douche. Julie was not only mentally strong, but physically as well. I loved that both Mason & Julia thought of the kids first... Nothing is sexier than a man who loves children. I spent a good part of the story waiting for Mason and Julie to get together... You knew it was bound to happen given their history. And I love that the author made us wait to get the full story behind that history as well. The murder mystery party of it really threw me... I was expecting more of a love story, but I definitely loved the added terror. It was the perfect book to start off my Halloween!

With that being said... The characters all seemed older than they really were. I thought they would be in their late 20's, early 30's. Not 19 & 22!! Who in their right mind would let a 19 yr old take their 3 kids to cabin for a month?!? I think the story would have been a little more believable if they were older. And what 22 year old owns their own profitable company? Mason & Julie's relationship troubles would have seemed more heartbreaking and more satisfying if their "problem" had occurred more than a few years ago. There were a few typos (only about 5 that I really noticed) ... Including the word diseased being used instead of deceased - that made me stumble when I read it. Also, being American, it was weird seeing the word province. But I am aware that the author is Canadian, so that wasn't a big deal at all. Just different.

Kissing Trouble by Morgana Phoenix is a heart-pounding romantic thriller. It has action and suspense as well as steamy moments and a love story.
The story is well-written and the plot flows smoothly with lots of twists and turns. I thought I knew who the bad guy was, and then I wasn't sure, and then I thought I knew again....it kept me constantly thinking.
As always, Ms. Phoenix has created wonderful characters that are full of personality. Julie is a confident woman who isn't afraid to stand up to the guys. She is responsible and caring. And she loves Mason, even though she's been hurt by him in the past. Mason is sexy and cocky. He has a bad boy past but he is trying to prove that he has matured. Some of the scenes between Mason and Julie are definitely hot and steamy. Shawn is a jerk and a douchebag, but he is also a loyal friend to Mason. Luis is quiet and sweet, an introvert who is befriended by Mason and Shawn. Sheriff Reynolds is pompous and cocky and he isn't willing to forget Mason and Shawn's past behavior. But he genuinely wants to do the right thing and he redeemed himself in the end.
This story was amazing and is a must read for fans of romantic suspense thrillers. I loved it!

Personally I don't think Mason asks for a lot, "he pulled in a lungful of air, held it, and let it out in a loud growl. "I want you to stop looking at me like I broke your heart! That's what I want." He doesn't like anyone touching his girl, "Shaun, get your effing hands off her!" Mason started around the furniture to get to them." Our boy likes to be a big tease, "hold still." The command was back in his voice. His hand was steady and even his heart had slowed to a near steady patter. "I'm going to eff you," he announced without a shred of doubt. "But not here, not like this, and not tonight-" But that's alright because Julie knows how to tease Mason just as badly if not worse, "he kissed her slower this time. "Because images of you naked, wet, and soapy is not going to help me keep the house from burning down. In fact, that's all I'm going to think about now." When a man like Mason wakes up and his girl isn't next to him he starts to get all pi**y, "Mason! She's right here. Look, she's fine." She was thrust forward like a sacrificial lamb. The nurses and doctor jerked back and the figure on the bed ceased his struggling." As usual I loved Morgana's book, I don't think there was a book she's written that I haven't loved.

Whoa! This book blew my mind. I love the fact that it just grabbed me right from the beginning. Thrillers are not usually part of genre of books that I read but the synopsis just made me curious and makes me want to read it.

Julie, A Forensic student with boxing skills that matches Jackie Chan, heads up to a cabin to babysit 3 kids, ends up being stuck with the guy who crushed her heart. A mysterious psycho, who leaves things that makes your hair stand, nauseous, and on your toes all throughout the book.

I love Kissing Trouble because of all the gritty points. I love how she wrote it, The thrill of finding love again. Mason and Julie, looking out for each other. The other kind of thrill that makes your heart beat fast. It kept me on my toes from page after page. Although I kinda guessed who the psycho was, I could not wait to find out if my guess was right ( I do watch CSI myself so I like to do some analyzing myself)

This is my first Airicka a.k.a. Morgana Phoenix book and will definitely not be that last, Thank you for giving me the chance to read your book. Love love love it!

Morgana Phoenix kept me up til 3 in the morning while I just had to finish one more chapter! I wasn't even supposed to be reading that night at all, but when I got home from work and TJ and the kids were still at their music lessons, I thought, "One or two chapters wouldn't hurt. It's Friday. It's been a long week, and I just want to know what's going to happen."

Yeah, that's the kind of lies that get book nerds like me in trouble. So I didn't end up doing the editing work I promised my husband I would do, and I totally screwed up my sleep schedule, which screwed up my Saturday.

All the same, I don't think I'd take it back. Kissing Trouble was a delicious read. I was totally entranced by the characters, and of course figuring out "who dun it" kept me turning pages.

What amazes the most is the how Ms. Phoenix keeps both the plot tension and the sexual tension high from beginning to end. The action is nonstop, and the world she created sucks you in and doesn't let you out until you get to the very last page.

This is the second book that I've had the pleasure of reading from this author and I have come to the conclusion that she can incorporate mystery into her stories in such an amazing and interesting way. This was a story of love, passion, friendship, mystery, all spiced up with a touch of horror.
Once again, the characters were greatly developed and the story was well thought and executed excellently.
Julie, our heroine, was... lovely. Loved her sass. Mason is another creation of Mrs. Phoenix that I ADORED. He's swoon worthy. Even though I was able to successfully guess the culprit (mind you, only after the 70% of the book) I still enjoyed the ride.
Overall, this book was an amazing mixture of mystery and romance that I seriously recommend to the lovers of both genres.
5 Golden Stars from me.
