Description
In the current healthcare climate, change is imminent. Organizations need to change to be relevant and individuals need to embrace change, adapt to change, and be prepared to face change. The Affordable Care Act has created a new climate of great hope and great uncertainty. Interpretations of the changes needed to be effective in today’s marketplace may be very different than those six months from now; no individual has the magic pill nor clear vision in the crystal ball. Therefore, being grounded in theories of change, preparing for reactions to change, and understanding your own preferences to change are paramount to success.

The American Nurses Association (ANA) embarked on change by announcing a new organizational structure in November 2013. In many ways, this change merely represented a "back to basics" to leverage staff talent and increase operating efficiency across the ANA Enterprise, which is comprised of ANA and its subsidiary organizations: the American Nurses Foundation and the American Nurses Credentialing Center. However, this change reflected both organizational change as well as individual change among employees—titles, locations, space as well as systems and culture were at play.

Dr. Wylecia Wiggs Harris, chief operating officer of the ANA, will highlight theories of change that served as the foundation for this evolution, share the pathway for this transformational change, and showcase the lessons learned along the way to benefit you in your own journey.

Join us on September 18 to increase your understanding of change and to acquire new tools for assisting you, your own organization and your employees embrace change.
