Dear Parent/Carer,

Your child has expressed an interest, and has been chosen to take part in this year’s First Lego League tournament. The club will take place after school on a Wednesday from 3:30pm – 4:30pm.

The First Lego League has 3 core principals; teamwork, computing and a presentation element. All children selected will be required to fulfil each principal. This year’s theme is ‘Hydrodynamics’. Hopefully we will arrange a visitor from Northumbrian Water to help our team understand how we use water in different ways and how water can help us.

For the robot game the children will be expected to problem solve and work in a team to program a Lego EV3 to complete a series of challenges on the board.

At the end of January the children will be invited to the Sage, Gosforth to take part in the tournament against children from other schools. The day is fantastic and the children will be ‘judged’ all day on their teamwork, presentation and computing skills.  A letter will be issued after Christmas to seek permission for the tournament.
