This place has been a favorite of mine for over 20 years, great place with outstanding food with a view of the working harbor. Off the beaten path and away from the tourist places on the boardwalk. Fresh fish and many home made desserts, excellent Benedict breakfasts with fresh crab and lobster. Service is always friendly and helpful, prices are perfect and if you enjoy sitting outside to eat al fresco this is the place. Don't miss out on this one to enjoy fresh catch of the day and plenty of it.

I recently dined at Fatcats in Port San Luis, just a short drive from Avila. The diner ambiance was cozy, offering a full menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

We opted for the halibut fish and chips special, which was locally caught. The halibut was fresh and tender, though the batter was a bit plain. A suggestion would be to spice it up for added flavor.

The fries were a highlight, delicious and well-seasoned. The side salad, while standard, pleasantly surprised with the addition of beets - a personal favorite.

The service was excellent; our waiter was friendly and polite, contributing to an enjoyable dining experience.

Overall, Fatcats offers a good version of the usual fare, with a small tweak to enhance the batter potentially elevating the experience.

Walked from our Duplex for a nice early dinner. We were seated right away. Seating was also available outside with lots of heaters. A waiter came and took our drink orders right away and then another waiter came by a few minutes later for our food orders. The special was Chile Rellenos which we all ordered. This meal was absolutely delicious as was the rice and beans that came with it. We all agreed we would order this dish again. Nice evening at Fat Cats.

Food is absolutely delicious!! Service was excellent!! The inside of the restaurant is small, but very toasty on a chilly evening.

While staying at Flying Flags - Avila Beach, we walked over to the Pier, noticed this little gem. We stopped by today to have dinner. It was delicious and the waiter was very attentive. I had the clam chowder with homemade bread bowl and my husband had the crab cakes with fries. Both were great portions and very tasty.

Sooo good. Good vibes nice staff and the food was super yummy. I got the bread bowl clam chowder and it was the best I've had. Highly recommend!

Came to Fat Cats for breakfast. My husband had the Corned beef hash special and was not disappointed. It was a hefty serving. I had a basic breakfast. It's a small cafe with a beautiful view of the Harbor. Always a must stop.

Walt from Walt's Adventures starting the day in Avila Beach, California. However, this cafe looks upon the beach town from the other side of the bay.
It is my guarantee that it is well worth traveling to for its breakfast can only be described as perfect. The meal's presentation and taste were well constructed and conceived and the sausage patty was the best that I had the pleasure of consuming. The pancakes were fluffy with fresh fruit and the stuffed French Toast need not any syrup.
4 of 5 only because the Mimosas, not pictured, in my humble opinion, were strong, which is complimentary, but need additional OJ to reach perfection.
I thought that in my adventuring of Avila Beach, I had seen all of the gems the area had to offer. It is my pleasure to announce and discover that I was wrong and premature to think so for across shines a fine gem.

Food is fantastic and very fresh. The outside patio is great and the servers are very attentive. I highly recommend.

Went for breakfast and didn't have to wait too long considering the outdoor seating was closed due to the aggressive bees. Our waitress was very friendly and did a good job at keeping up with making sure we were taken care of. I had the biscuits and gravy special and husband had the French toast special. Both were good and fresh tasting. We will definitely come back on our next visit to Avila Beach
