J600500 Radiator, Replace (Z 14 XE, AF 13 II, with AC, LHD) > < Replace radiator (Z 10 XE, Z 10 XEP, without air conditioning, LHD)

J600500 Replace radiator (Z 12 XE, Z12 XEP, Z 14 XEP, with air conditioning, LHD)

Note:   In vehicles as of model year 04 onwards with ESP - the steering angle sensor loses its basic adjustment each time the battery is disconnected, and must be recalibrated

  Remove

1.   Open bonnet
2.   Disconnect battery
•   Detach ground cable
3.   Disconnect battery
•   Detach ground cable
4.   Raise vehicle

5.   Release lower front panelling
•   Remove 3 clips (2)
•   Unscrew 4x bolt (1)
•   Unscrew 2x nut (3)
6.   Detach front panelling
Note:   Second person required
•   Remove and close the hose – high-pressure – Headlamp washer system

7.   Drain coolant
•   Place collecting basin underneath.
•   Open drain bolt (arrow)
8.   Detach lower radiator hose from radiator
•   Release clamp

9.   9. Raise vehicle
10.   Release lower fan housing
•   Remove retaining clip (arrow)

11.   11. Lower vehicle
12.   Release lower radiator bracket
•   Unscrew 2 rear bolts
•   Loosen 2 front bolts
13.   Remove intake pipe (1)
•   Remove bolt (2)
•   Remove oil dipstick

14.   Detach upper radiator hose from radiator
•   Release clamp
15.   Detach overflow hose from radiator

16.   Remove fan housing
Note:   Carefully pull fan housing upwards
•   Disconnect auxiliary fan motor wiring harness plug
•   Unscrew 2 bolts (1)

17.   Detach condenser
Note:   The air conditioning system remains closed
•   Unscrew 2 bolts (arrows)
•   Remove condenser from bracket
•   Suspend condenser

18.   Remove upper radiator bracket (1)
•   Unscrew 2 bolts (2)

19.   Remove radiator
Note:   Second person required
•   Remove radiator downwards carefully
Swivel radiator bracket to side
20.   Pull off 2 rubber bearings
Object Number: 2410677  Size: DEFAULT


  Install

21.   Fit 2 rubber bearings
22.   Insert radiator
Note:   Second person required
•   Close coolant drain bolt
•   Insert radiator into lower radiator bracket
23.   Install upper radiator bracket
•   Tighten 2 bolts 10 Nm
24.   Fasten condenser
•   Release condenser
•   Insert in bracket
•   Tighten 2 bolts 5 Nm
25.   Attach fan housing
•   Insert in bracket
•   Tighten 2 bolts 5 Nm
•   Connect auxiliary fan motor wiring harness plug
26.   Attach overflow hose
27.   Attach upper radiator hose
•   Fasten clamp
28.   Install intake pipe
•   Install in upper front
Tighten bolt
•   Insert oil dipstick
29.   Fasten lower radiator bracket
•   Tighten 4 bolts 15 Nm
30.   Raise vehicle
31.   Fasten lower fan housing
•   Install retaining clip
32.   Connect lower radiator hose
•   Fasten clamp
33.   Lower vehicle
34.   Position front panelling
Note:   Second person required
•   Install high-pressure headlamp washer hose
35.   Fasten lower front panelling
•   Install 3 clips
•   Screw in 4 bolts
•   Screw in 2 nuts
36.   Lower vehicle
37.   Fasten upper front panelling
•   Tighten 3 bolts
38.   Connect battery
39.   Calibrate steering angle sensor
•   Switch on ignition
•   Rotate the steering wheel one time from its right-hand to its left-hand stop.
40.   Top up and bleed cooling system – see operation "Cooling System, Top up and Bleed"
41.   Program volatile memories
42.   Close bonnet
