BANGOR, Maine — A longtime Bangor police officer has retired, while three others have received promotions, Sgt. Tim Cotton announced Thursday.

Sgt. Larry Weber, who has worked with the city’s police department since 1987, announced his retirement in May, Cotton said. Weber’s career started in 1984, and he worked in Brewer and Orono before coming to Bangor.

Weber, the department’s first domestic violence investigator, was promoted to sergeant in 1998.

In addition, Sgt. Paul Kenison, a 23-year veteran of Bangor’s force, has been promoted to lieutenant and will supervise day patrol in addition to his role as the department’s bomb squad commander.

Detective Brent Beaulieu and Officer Brandon Vafiades have been promoted to sergeant. Beaulieu has served with the department since 1998 and Vafiades since 2002.
