The cast of Star Trek Beyond will no longer appear at a scheduled Cannes event following co-star Anton Yelchin's unexpected death earlier this week.

The celeb-heavy ensemble including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana planned to attend a Q&A session Wednesday at the 63rd Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Cast members have openly mourned Yelchin, who played Pavel Chekov in the franchise's 2009 reboot as well as 2013's Star Trek Into Darkness and upcoming Star Trek Beyond.

"His fellow actors are just so devastated," a source told E! News.

Paramount announced the event cancellation on Tuesday, telling E! News, "All of us are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend Anton Yelchin. Out of respect, we are withdrawing our participation in the previously announced Star Trek Beyond at Cannes Lions this week."

The details of his memorial are not yet known, but a source says the funeral happen sooner than later.

Star Trek Beyond, set for release in July, is one of five films starring Yelchin that will be released posthumously.

After news of his death went public, his Star Trek colleagues paid tribute to him on social media. Director J.J. Abrams tweeted a handwritten note that read, "Anton–You were brilliant. You were kind. You were funny as hell, and supremely talented. And you weren't here nearly long enough. Missing you..." Similarly, Saldana shared her sympathies via Twitter, writing, "Devastated by our friend's loss. We are mourning his passing and celebrating the beautiful spirit that he was. #RIPAnton." Quinto, meanwhile, shared a picture of Yelchin on Instagram. "our dear friend. our comrade. our anton. one of the most open and intellectually curious people i have ever had the pleasure to know. so enormously talented and generous of heart. wise beyond his years. and gone before his time," he wrote in the caption. "all love and strength to his family at this impossible time of grief."
