Katie Hopkins may not be the nation’s darling but she is the best of the Big Brother house (Picture: WireImage)

The beginning of 2015 has been far from a peaceful ride for the 15 unfortunate celebrities of the Big Brother house.

If looks could kill then there would have been a massacre during this series as personalities and egos clashed for most of their waking hours. There have been more fireworks than Bonfire night but now it’s coming to an end now and one celeb must be crowned champion.

It could be anyone’s to win but here is why it should be Katie Hopkins that takes the honour.

From reviled to reformed?

There were not many in the viewing public that would’ve given her the time of day before she went on the show. Even the legal eagles were ready to swoop on any untoward comments that were muttered through the course of her time in the house.

Whilst Katie Hopkins hasn’t been every housemate’s cup of tea, she has shown enough that there is more to her than being a mouthpiece for vile comments.

It would be wrong to say that she has become a reformed character but it appears there is an ounce of feeling under her tough exterior.

I mean, could anyone really be that spiteful all the time? Perhaps it is just a media persona.

Hopkins vs ‘The Perez Show’ = entertainment

Before the housemates arrived at their new home there was much said about some of the celebrities and their questionable temperament. Calum Best was meant to be a womanising soundbite that would woo the ladies whilst Cami Li was the new dictionary definition of fiery.

But they all turned out to be pretty bland, unless watching Keith Chegwin cleaning toilets is your idea of perfect TV viewing.

While everyone else stayed quiet and played a good game, Katie Hopkins and Perez Hilton were the only ones that brought the baggage of their outside lives into the equation.

It may have been tempestuous and occasionally awkward viewing but without the Katie versus Perez showdown, CBB would’ve been a turn off some time ago.

Better the devil you know

Katie Hopkins may be opinionated and come across as a bit of a bully at times, but she has contributed to one of the best Celebrity Big Brother series there’s been.

They say that he who dares wins and Hopkins has not compromised her harsh personality and provided a watered-down version, like Katie Price and Calum Best have probably done.

She is difficult to like but based on the lack of drama from any of the other housemates, Katie Hopkins deserves to be crowned champion for sticking her neck out and taking the hits.
