Bulldog Briefs 2015 - Rd 18 summary and club news
Dear Members, sponsors and supporters,
Our final newsletter for the year contains lots of important news.
As another season comes to a close it's fair to say that on-field results have been disappointing and below expectation. In the final week results did not go our way. On Saturday, all teams went down against Vermont at their ground. We came up against a very good football club, which is going to compete in finals in all three grades. On Sunday, the Veterans lost their playoff final and this brings an end to the dream of a third consecutive premiership. Check out all the final reports and results below.
** COACHING CHANGES
With the end of the season and following a review of the on-field year, we wish to advise that the club and senior coach Leigh McQuillan have mutually decided to embark on different directions and part ways for season 2016. The club thanks Leigh for his professionalism throughout the 2015 season and in this post season period. We wish Leigh much future success wherever the next phase of his coaching career takes him. Thank you also to Kelly, Paityn and Nash - we have enjoyed meeting you all, and will miss little Nash running around in his jumper and boots, always with a footy in hand!
Our reserves coach Shane Lewis and U19s coach Zane Job have also indicated that will not be continuing in their coaching roles, however will continue to play important roles at the club. We take this opportunity to thank Shane and Zane for their contributions along with all other assistant coaches, trainers, team managers, football operations staff and volunteers including runners, water carriers, time keepers, interchange stewards, goal and boundary umpires for your support in season 2015. If we have missed anyone, we apologise. Do not underestimate the value you provide to a community club - long on passion but short on resources! Thank you all.
Note - the club has commenced its search for all coaching positions for season 2016.
** VOLUNTEERS
A massive thank also to all other football club volunteers - no matter what job you do your assistance is critical and most welcome. We will fully acknowledge you more formally during our presentation night, and we hope that you are all on board for the ride again in season 2016.
** ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Of course we can always do with more help from volunteers, both at committee level and in a more general sense. The AGM will be held at some time in November, and full details will issue in due course. It is time however for anyone who enjoys our club and wants to do more to think about stepping up. So you can consider what a role entails, please take time to look at the main committee position descriptions located on our website here.
** FINAL SEASON SOCIAL FUNCTIONS
Two more functions on the 'official' 2015 season calendar. Vote count/cocktail party this coming Friday night 28 August and Presentation Night on Friday 18 September. Please check out the details below and support the club, with it's fund-raising efforts.
In closing, we hope all our players, members, supporters, sponsors and officials have a great break over the next month or two, and we look forward to seeing everyone back for preseason training later this year.
Go doggies!

Seniors
Sadly not a great way to end the season, comprehensively beaten by the Eagles. Was always going to be an uphill battle conceding 9 goals in the first quarter. Better players for us included Dano, Stevie, Jimmy, Nic, Ax and Sticks. Watch a reply of the game at the EFL Match Footage Hub.

Development Squad
A much better effort this week against a very good reserves team. The boys matched it for 3 qrts, but could not keep in goal in the last. The scoring shot difference revealed the story. Better players were Dycky, Jmac, Drapes, DC, Nuci and Junior.

Under 19s
Another difficult challenge against the top of the Div 1 U19s. While the boys continued trying we just could not match their overall run and skills of the opposition. Upside of the last few weeks was the opportunity to give some of the top age U17s a run. Better players included Lachie, Evan, Dan, Anthony, Jobey and Aka.

Veterans
The vets finished the year on Sunday in their first final with a loss to Scoresby, it was a disappointing result and one that we definitely didn’t expect. With an influx of new players at the start of the season and after an excellent home and away season we expected a much better finish to the year. Being second to the ball, not playing as a team and undisciplined football cost us greatly on the day and it is a lesson to be learnt, we trailed Scoresby for the whole match and didn’t deserve to win. This will spur us on next year and we will endeavour to make up for a poor finish to 2015.
