"The problem is in the thought, you are setting the target well below it should be," Preet said deliberating over a few papers.

"Damn!" Karthik exclaimed from underneath the work sheets.

Frustrated at the late hour they were still working, the boy had placed his head on the table and buried himself under the papers.

"Can we continue this tomorrow?", he asked her.

"Right when we are about to crack this?" Preet asked irritated.

"We have been trying to crack this for the last few hours now," Karthik persisted coming out of the mess and looking straight at her.

"And that is why we are closer to getting the answers," Preet fought on.

"I can't go on anymore, Preet. It's been hours since the staff cleared up. We are sitting in a haunted office and it's just the first day. Let's call it a day. Please, Chundari, please. You must be tired from your flight and long day too," begged Karthik.

Preet nodded to indicate her agreement and Karthik dashed out of his cabin with his mobile. A minute later he returned to see Preet packing up things.

"Leave it Preet. We have to continue with this same work only na," reasoned Karthik.

Preet stared at him angrily for a few seconds and then continued wrapping up things. Karthik realised it was futile telling her anything, so he started helping her.

When they were done, they walked towards the time office. She stopped at the security office and spoke to the security guard, "Can you call the driver for the drop?"

"I will call him Madam, but you will have to wait. He has just gone for his dinner," informed the security.

"Damn!" Preet cried out loud.

"If you want I can arrange a good driver for you," intervened Karthik.

"Don't you have to leave? Why are you still here, Karthik?" she asked him angrily.

Karthik looked at her hurt, then in his native language spoke to the security person. Looking at her, he said, "Don't worry, I have sorted this out. Your driver will be here. Wait outside." He left.

While she was waiting, Karthik came on a bike and stopped close to where she was standing. He didn't say a thing, instead just raised the accelerator creating noise. Without looking at Karthik, Preet screamed loudly in a huff. Then she quietly went and sat behind him.
