Speedy Ashland Blazer running back Quinton Baker - a first-team All-State player last year and a likely Mr. Football candidate in 2015 - announced Sunday that he's committed to nearby Marshall University.

Baker, who rushed for 1,719 yards and 20 touchdowns last season, tweeted last week that his top five options were Marshall, Navy, Middle Tennessee State, Western Kentucky and Ball state.

Baker, whose father, Al, played running back at the University of Kentucky, was committed to UK for a month last fall but reopened his recruitment in late November, saying he thought he made that initial pledge too early in the process. UK didn't seem to pursue heavily after that.

He has also received interest but not an offer from the University of Louisville, where he has visited multiple times and attended a camp this month.

Baker is rated three stars and the nation's No. 13 all-purpose back by 247Sports.com.

He's also the Class 2-A state track champion in the 100 (10.79 seconds) and 200 meters (21.95).
