Hi folks!

Got the galaxy s last week only to find out this annoying thing with the headphones. Google brought me here.

It would have been a deal breaker for me too.

I'll make the adapter cable, but before I do, can anyone please confirm that if I use an ordinary headphone (without buttons and mic), I'll be able to use the headphones to listen and the phone mic to talk?

Changing the phone jack for the Vibrant would've been an ideal solution to me, but it seens that the issues with the proximity and light sensors are not ideal.

So here's a suggestion: maybe there's a way of rewiring the original i9000 jack so it can have the pin-out we want.

The same company sells those two:

globaldirectparts.com/OEM-Samsung-Ear-Speaker-Flex-Cable-p/smsng6087160.htm

And if that doesn't work, there's a third way: put just the vibrant jack on the i9000 sensor.

The international shipping is quite expensive (US$ 35,00), and I'll not spend US$ 50,00 only to find out it can't be done. Shipping to the US is a bit more affordable.

PS: distortedloop, did you ever posted that video? I was curious to know if it's difficult to change the components. It's a simple swap, or do you have to use the soldering iron?

PS2: flashing the kernel that kar200 said, really doesn' work?

I tried the K13C Speedmob kernel and it does work.

There's only two minor issues with the software fix.

Problem A:
Your on the the train listing to music and you get a call you answer the call and everything is prefect or you make a call and everything is prefect. Perfect world.

Problem B:
You have no headphones plugged in you get a call and then plug you headphones in. The sound is still on earpearce so you hit "speaker" and the voice goes to the external speaker so now everyone can hear the other side then you hit "speaker" one more time and the call goes to the headphones.

Problem C:
You have the headphones plugged in and you get a call or make a call then after for whatever reason you unplug the headphone and the sound is gone and you cant hear anything out of anywhere, then you hit "speaker" and sound comes from external speakers (again everyone can hear the other side) and then you hit "speaker" again and the sound comes from the earpeace
