Good news. Sort of.
Hugh Grant is out, but Colin Firth has said he’s open to the idea of playing Mr. Darcy —that would be Mark, not Fitzwilliam — once more if a mooted threequel to Bridget Jones ever materialized. Speaking to The Independent, Firth said he would be interested, but any future film “would have to have somewhere to go.”
He added: “Back at the time, I said that a third one should only happen if we were telling a story about having moved into a different generation when we were all beginning to deteriorate a little bit. I think we might be ready for that moment!”

In the video interview, the Kingsman star also talked about other projects he would be interested in, signaling that he was quite keen on television, particularly shows like Netflix hit House of Cards. “I would love to do something like that,” he said, adding he’s also got a taste for Scandinavian noir. “I’ve been completely captivated by some of the Scandinavian stuff like The Bridge, Borgen and The Killing. So either a political thing like House of Cards or one of those very sophisticated crime shows. I don’t care whether it’s on the big or the small screen, so long as it’s interesting and good I’d do it, definitely.”
Firth, however, will not be putting himself forward for James Bond if and when Daniel Craig ever decides to hand in his license to kill. “That ship has sailed,” he said. “I think there might be a bit of an age limit on Bond, and even if I were to start now, you’d have to be good for the next few. I think Kingsman was as close as I’m going to get.”
