I realized I've never had a thread in the Garage Gallery.
I'm consolidating all threads and videos in one place.
If you've been on GJ for awhile you may have seen some of them already, however I think a one stop link will be convenient for new people on the site.

********************************************************************
26' x 30' detatched Garage, built Sept. 1984. 12' x 20' rear addition built 2002.
780 SF main building, 240 SF rear addition for a total of 1020 SF.
Other than electrical and ceiling drywall the garage remained unfinished on the inside until, late 2009 when I finally had time to start work on the interior, see the unfinished interior photo below.

Where's the driveway to the house come from? Is it coming from the left of the last two pics?

I like the addition on the garage. What do you keep in there, garden equipment? I need an addition about that size but don't know if I can swing it for awhile.

Kevin,

A couple better photos to see the driveway. (ariel one taken 22 years ago)

The addition is used to park the tractor in and I have lots of shelving and another tool box in there. It allows me to keep the main area clutter free (for the most part  )

The addition was money well spent, my son and I built it. The only things we didn't do were the shingles and the concrete floor (I did the prep for the floor pour) and the OH door install. It cost me $5000.00 for everything including the sublet work. I think the garage looks much better with the addition.

Whats your floor to ceiling height, reason I ask is my build is going to be limited on ceiling height..

But your pics make it seem like you make the car lift work with a low ceiling

I just picked up this thread, really a nice place you have there. I've seen the inside of the shop before, but have not seen the outside, I'd say you have a very nice place to spend, maybe 40 years or so?

Great Place you have there!

Mm

Update. I installed a fenced area behind the garage to hide trash cans and other stuff, and I'm adding some recent photos with a better view of the garage front

Nice space, I'm diggin' it:)

On a side note, I have no idea why someone would post 3 star just because? It can be a real downer on all the efforts of the owner/OP.

Let's just balance that out for ya:D

Thanks,
I must say you've done some creative and meticulous work in your garage, I've seen your thread before and was/am impressed by the attention to detail.

How does one get a garage this clean? Is everything sitting out on the driveway so you could stage this picture? I mean like you don't even have a shelf anywhere. Gotta be all rented props and you took the picture in a vacant house.

"Oh ye of little faith" Picture isn't staged, I have storage and wall mounted shelves the rear addition section you see in the other photos, I keep the tractor and zero turn mower there also. The soffit storage has equivalent of 3 18" x 5 shelf floor units. After 40+ years of working in a transmission / auto repair shop I always wanted a clean and neat enviornment, when you're in business you must grind out thousands of dollars worth of work each and every week and don't always have time to keep things as clean or neat as you'd like to. Now I can and I do, it always looks like this and after I do work I clean it so it stays that way

Had nice light for taking photos today, took a few with different perspectives.
Some shots of the view from the garage to the house and view from garage to the street.

Recently I agreed to check out some engine problems a friend was having with his 1974 Buick LeSabre convert. A look in the cylinders with my bore scope confirmed that water was getting into cylinder No. 2. So I did the repair and rebuilt the carb. on the old bear. The last photo is the happy owner getting back on the road. So despite what some people say you can keep your garage clean and still do work in it.

How much does it run you a month on your gas bill to heat the garage? Where are you located/what kind of winter temps do you see. I was thinking of getting this same heater for my garage.

NE Ohio, mostly 20's and 30's however it can get to zero or below on occasion.
I don't know exact cost of heating the garage as it's on the same meter as the house. I can tell you I really haven't noticed any significant increase in the bills.
I normally keep it at 40 or 45 degrees and turn it up before I come out to work in the shop, it will heat the place to 60 degrees in 15 minutes.

1000 CU FT of natural gas contains 1000000 (one million) BTU's so you can run the 45K heater for 22.22 hours on 1000 cu ft of NG.

Lets use some made up numbers to estimate. 30 days x 24 hrs = 720 hours in a month. Let's say the heater runs 20% of the time (could be high or low?) so it's on 144 hours per month divided by 22.22 equals 6.48 thousand Cu Ft NG used during the month. If you're paying $6.00 / 1000 Cu Ft that would come out to $38.88 per month to heat the garage. Use your own numbers to create a more customized estimate.

Hello,

I sure envy your garage, it looks amazing. I'm too looking into buying a Maxjax in the future... But, for now, I have a question for you, what brand is your compressor? also, do you like it?

Thanks,

Javier
