Viete, ako ľudia vo svete vnímajú migráciu?
Podľa výsledkov celosvetového prieskumu spoločnosti Gallup v 142 krajinách sa 43 percent obyvateľov prikláňa k tomu, aby stav imigrácie do ich krajiny ostal na súčasnej úrovni, alebo sa zvýšil. Naopak, 34 percent podporuje zníženie imigrácie. Imigráciu cudzincov najviac odmietajú Európania – v priemere 52 % obyvateľov Európy si myslí, že úroveň imigrácie do ich krajiny by sa mala znížiť.

i am a migrant je webová stránka, na ktorej migranti z rôznych krajín sveta zverejňujú svoje osobné príbehy. Prostredníctvom nich môže verejnosť lepšie spoznať migráciu. i am a migrant chce cez tieto ľudské príbehy čeliť stereotypom o migrantoch a prispieť k pozitívnej zmene vo vnímaní migrácie. Zapojte sa do kampane a podeľte sa o ten svoj príbeh, alebo pomôžte zverejniť príbeh migranta vo vašom okolí.

IOM Priority Is to Provide Specific Assistance to Migrants
In 2015, a key activity for IOM in Slovakia was to provide assistance to foreigners with integration in Slovakia and to educate professionals working with foreigners, to assist foreigners without a residence permit in the Slovak Republic to return home and after their return home, to provide assistance to victims of trafficking, and to refugees in their humanitarian transfer through the Slovak Republic and to coordinate activities of the European Migration Network in the Slovak Republic.

With IOM Assistance We Managed to Create our Own Home
A story of Sheremet Beqiri's family from Kosovo depicts a situation in which they found themselves after arriving in Slovakia and the IOM assistance with their return back to Kosovo. After their return IOM provided them with additional support which enabled a four-person family to arrange permanent accommodation and to improve their living conditions.

A Commemoration for Lost Migrant Lives
On the occasion of the International Migrant Day on 18 December 2015, IOM, Call for Humanity Iniciative and the Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia in cooperation with the Office of the President of the Slovak Republic held the public Candlelight Vigil for migrants who lost their lives or have disappeared while trying to reach another country.

Recommendations for a New Integration Programme of the SR
In December 2015, foreign and local experts at a conference on Integration Programmes for Beneficiaries of International Protection and an Expert Roundtable offered recommendations for the preparation of Integration Programme of the Slovak Republic for Beneficiaries of International Protection which is being prepared by the Migration Office of the MoI of the SR.

IOM Organized Trainings in Prevention of Human Trafficking
In October and November 2015, IOM conducted 6 trainings for 111 professionals working with young people. The participants will be able to raise awareness of the youth on the risks of human trafficking so that they do not become victims of traffickers.

Thousand people have seen this film introducing the life of migrants in Slovakia that was screened at various film and cultural festivals, public events, school projections or on the YouTube site of IOM Slovakia. Courses about Life in Slovakia for Foreigners
IOM Migration Information Centre (MIC) organizes courses of social and cultural orientation for non-EU nationals that will help them navigate through the important areas of life in Slovakia and will facilitate their first steps in new country. Courses take place once a month in Bratislava and Kosice.

Do You Know How the World Views Migration?
Drawing on the results of worldwide survey conducted in 142 countries, some 43% of all respondents favour increasing or keeping stable the numbers of immigrants in their countries, while only 34% support lower levels of immigration. Europeans appeared to be the most negative towards immigration - on average, 52% of Europe's population believes immigration levels should be decreased.

i am a migrant is a platform where migrants from various countries tell their personal stories through which the public can better get to know migration. Underlining a human face of migration, i am a migrant wants to challenge the anti migrant stereotypes and contribute to positive change in perception of migration. Join the campaign and share your story or you can assist somebody who has a compelling story to write about it and publish it.
