Backyard Chicken Basics, April 25, 10a.m.-12p.m.
This workshop will teach you everything you need to know about raising urban chickens including finding the perfect hen, their care, coop and run design, feed, eggs, recipes, and city ordinances. This class is designed for people who are new to backyard chickens and for those who have some experience with raising hens that need to make sure they’ve covered all the basics.

First, we will meet-up for a short discussion on chicken basics at 608 West Pleasant Drive here in Pierre. It is a big stone house almost on the corner of Poplar and Pleasant. After our discussion we will caravan to 1181 Dry Run Rd, outside of Pierre city limits, and see some chickens! At this second location participants will learn about simple coop design and gain some hands on chicken raising experience.
