Amsterlaw Tours

Amsterlaw Tour: Lone Star and Pearl Fincher

This would be a long day using public transportation -  nearly 4 hours on public buses, 24 minutes in taxi, 4 big shows at Lone Star and one big show at Pearl Fincher.

If you were to rent a car to do this trip, the driving time would total  only 1:30. You could get back to town with plenty of time to see other shows.

Amsterlaw Tour: Lone Star (skip Pearl Fincher)

I expect the Pearl Fincher show to be good ... but the Lone Star show is not-to-be-missed. If you want to stick with public transportation and spend most of the day looking at shows rather than riding buses, skip Pearl Fincher and just go to the Lone Star show.

Amsterlaw Tour: Galveston and South

According to the Island Transit Service website, the Galveston trolley service has not functioned since Hurricane Ike in 2008. The bus service was also damaged in that storm - weekday bus service is still on Saturday schedule.

Google Maps does not access the Island Transit bus routes and schedules.

There is talk of building a rail system between Houston and Galveston ... but it does not yet exist.

There is no Greyhound or Megabus  route between Houston and Galveston.

It is possible to use a taxi or shuttle service between Houston and Galveston that costs between $100 to $135 plus tip each way.

The Galveston and South  Lee White Tour costs $89 per person. The deadline for booking reservations was 3/13.

I'm thinking that it is so costly and problematic getting to and around Galveston , it would make sense to rent a car ... or skip the 5 good galleries down there. The following tour utilizes a rental car.
