Announcing NYT Opinion
Today, I’m proud to say, we are launching NYT Opinion. It’s the first time we have offered a stand-alone subscription to all of The New York Times’s opinion coverage, and it will be available on the web and in our new NYT Opinion-dedicated iPhone app.
For the first time, readers like you can opt for unlimited access to just our section — including our roster of distinguished columnists, our provocative Op-Ed contributors and contributing writers, our agenda-setting editorials, our award-winning Op-Docs series and much, much more.
Our beautiful new app, NYT Opinion, contains two main streams of information: Today, which will bring you all the articles from The Times’s opinion section, including blogs from columnists and editorial writers, plus exclusive Q&As with our writers, and other new features. The other stream, Op-Talk, will comb through the oceans of online commentary and select the most compelling from all over the world – courtesy of a new team of Times editors.
The app also includes My Reads, which allows you to save articles to read later. You’ll also be able to share stories of interest via email and Twitter, and to view and post comments directly in the app (a first for a Times iOS app).
Subscription to NYT Opinion includes unlimited access to the new app as well as to all articles from the opinion section of NYTimes.com – wherever you choose to read them. NYT Opinion will also be available to all existing core digital and home delivery subscribers, as well as Times Premier subscribers.
NYT Opinion offers our readers what we think are the most stimulating and interesting points of view you can find anywhere. The 24/7 nature of online debate, on the web and across social media, has allowed for more vibrant discussion of the opinions we publish — and your own. We are excited to expand our role in it.
I encourage you to download the new app and visit The Times’s opinion section online to experience Op-Talk and all of our expanded coverage — and to become a subscriber to NYT Opinion.
Thank you for reading The Times.

An earlier version of this article incorrectly said NYT Opinion is the first Times app to offer commenting. It is the first iPhone app to do so. Commenting is available in The Times’s Android app.
