Love: In the Fast Lane (Carolina Bad Boys Book 2) Kindle Edition
New York Times bestselling paranormal author, Nicky—Nick—Love is anything but successful in love. For years he’s lost himself in his writing career, but now he’s ready to get back to his rebel-boy roots. While restoring a motorcycle at Stone’s Auto Service, he meets the Wildcat of his dreams. She’s a shock to the system for the romance writer who doesn’t remember a damn thing about wooing a woman.
Cool-as-ice, Catarina “Wildcat” Steele is utterly untouchable until Nicky ignites a spark she can’t control. Their electric attraction explodes as Nicky pursues her, but he comes bearing the baggage of a family tragedy he’s hidden from everyone. He knows love has no guarantees.
Their passionate romance falls apart when Nicky discovers Cat’s secret rivals his own. The truth about her past reopens Nicky’s raw wounds and awakens a ghost he never laid to rest. He doesn’t know how to have Cat, and now he can’t trust her. Will they be torn apart . . . or tamed by love?

Badass, sassafras Rie Warren is an OG Amazon All Star author of Bad Boy books and MC romance. She delivers five star sex, suspense, and the best banter around. Her stories are one hundred percent original, do not contain fluffy plots or virgin brides, and wring every last emotion from readers to leave them with a satisfied smile. Rie’s tough alpha males are never brought to heel, but are instead healed by the feisty femme fatale of their perfect match.
She grew up in Maine, went to college in Iowa (Iowa, what?), lived in Scotland, and married in Englishman. In true roundabout fashion, they came back to the States, settled in South Carolina’s lowcountry, putting down southern roots and pursuing their arty endeavors. Tale spinner and character diviner, Rie is a lover of sleep, wine, and rude memes often involving either Disney characters or Winnie the Pooh. She is raising two teen daughters along with an entire brain full of unruly characters.
Rough-talking alpha men? Rie has that on tap.
Stubborn sassy heroines? You bet.
Smoldering sex scenes that’ll set your Kindle on fire? Check, check, check.

I love the easiness and flow of the story Rie Warren creates a beautiful world full of love, lust and hotties!!!
I found this story quite more emotional than the first in the series.
Nicky is hard headed and strong and drool worthy, his attraction to Cat is strong and entirely believable.
Cat is cool all inked arms and tragic past. She has bite and vulnerability to boot.
They both ride the emotional roller coaster to get the HEA
A real page turner with everything!!!
All up I enjoyed this instalment and really look forward to Steele's story which is next.
~Wildcat riled me up and made me feel alive like no other woman had.~
I have no problem owning up to my reaction when I came across the email showing a new Rie Warren book coming out, especially when I saw it was the next in the Carolina Bad Boys Series.... Total Freak Out!!
There is just something about this woman that gets me every time and this series became a fast addiction. What's different about it is the fact that it's told entirely from our badbiy Alpha man's POV, something I imagine is not easy to do but Rie pulls it off beautifully. These men are crass, dirty, foul, hilarious, hott and yet they have these sweet sides that never cross over to even slightly feminine. They are also not afraid to show emotion when the situation calls for it, they just handle it differently than a woman does which I expect. This book did have a slightly different feel to it from the first one; where book one leaned more on the funny/sexy side with a dash of drama, this one dove into the more serious topic of addiction. That's not to say it was too heavy, or that it ran on angst over-load, but it definitely had a darker feel to it at times as we got up close and personal with Josh's best friend, Paranormal Romance Author ~ Nicky Love...
~a woman with a troubled past was a headache I didn't need. I had too many skeletons in my own closet. I didn't have any room for anybody else's.~
Nick already went through the man-whore phase of his life and he's over it. That's not to say he's looking for love, he firmly believes the only HEA's he will ever experience are the ones he writes into his books. Nick has some pretty dark secrets from his past that he has kept hidden from everyone, even his long time best friend Josh, shadows that have made the man he is today more than a little leery of letting himself open up too much to another person. But watching Josh and Leelee build a life together makes him realize for the first time that he may be missing out on something; he just doesn't realize how much he may want it til his Wildcat comes storming into his life. Cat is like no one he has ever met before, a tattooed, snarly hellcat of a woman, and she tries her hardest to keep him at a distance. It's clear that she is battling some pretty severe demons of her own but Nick makes it his mission to break down her walls and force her to let him in. The question is- will he be able to handle what he finds on the other side?
I loved that we got to spend some more time with everyone from the first book, plus we got to meet some fascinating new characters that Cat brought along with her-namely, some smokin' hott biker brothers. We got to see first hand the path Josh and Leelee's relationship is taking and I admit, I got a little weepy. Rie also did a bang-up job of feeding my dirty side with some pretty steamy sex scenes, Nick was just... WOW! that boy writes great smut for a reason. The laughs were ever-present with Nick's Hens and their hash-tags, I do love those women. But Nick and Cat really did steal the show, their relationship wasn't easy but nothing worth having ever is. I fell for both of them hard and fast and I cannot wait for glimpses of them in future books to see where they go from here. Rie Warren has definitely secured her spot on my One-Click-Addiction List with this crew and I am more than ready to see what she brings us next with Brodie Steele... there is no telling what that man will do but it is guaranteed to be sinfully fabulous.
“Think I've been tamed by Love?”
“Not by a long shot darlin'.”
And that's just how I want her.
“I won't ever try to tame you, Wildcat.”
Happy Reading xo Jenn @ BookwormBetties

I've said since I read Rie's first book, she has something different! A special knack for writing men, a fresh approach to romancing - from the "Bad Boy's" raunchy, raw, animalistic and very often hilarious POV. Rie & her characters own me! I'm helpless to do anything but read the minute she gives us a new story. AND SHE'S SO DAMN FAST! With other authors, especially best sellers, we wait year(s) for sequels to stories we love, But not with Rie! She pounds em out and demands they get into our hands faster than..well -.faster than the hens would blow Stone if given the chance!
Which reminds me! Wasn't Stone a hoot in this round!? I loved all the glimpses of him & LeeLee settling into their relationship and planning the wedding. He's a different version of the tryin to be gay for the day - we first met. He's Stone the Barbarian Romancer, at times - Stone I don't give a f**k - Rhett Butler - and ahhhh Daddy Stone *sighs*.
These Alpha guys work hard; play hard; stay hard ; and love their women hard!
Nicky was a wonderful - hot- sexy, surprise. My experience meeting this Nicky , is kind of like the Clark Kent to Superman transformation - right down to the part where he's a man of Steele!
Cat Steele that is.
Raven hair to her ass.
A knock out body -
Icy vibe and fiery eyes
Along with the " I have 2 Biker Brother's" so don't mess with me, tude, that gets Nicky slapped in the face during their first conversation.
Cat is LeeLee's opposite - and the attraction is instantaneous.
I love the humor was still there, with a lot of our old fav secondary characters, like the shop guys & writing hens... along w/ some great new ones - and the ever growing feel of family and small town, southern living. The drama cranked up a lot in LOVE, the story line matured - and Rie took us for a Ride on this one, that left me breathless and ready for more - so much more.
**I could read her books and characters even if there were 11 of them with over 500 pages each - Like JR Ward.**
Theres so much to LOVE about this book - the series, the characters, the QUICK turn around time Rie's been able to write and release - all of Rie's work!!
Great read, an absolute STEAL at .99. **feel bad for Rie - I've paid so much more for such LESS reading experience** She really deserves an avalanche of success with this series .

In-your-face, unrepentant, lay it all out there...these Carolina Bad Boys are absolutely not going to be for everyone. They're rough, they're crude, they're rude...but at their hearts they love their women like no other. I loved the first book (Stone: At Your Service) so much, but a lot of that was because it was set at a romance writer's convention. I wasn't sure I would like this one as much when it got away from that setting, but I did.
These books and characters are irreverent and completely different from any other heroes out there in the romance world. Honestly, I think Rie Warren has probably hit the nail on the head with how her guys act in its representation of guys as a whole and how they act and talk when women aren't around. Regardless, it makes for an enjoyable book...simply in the fact that it's such a different style than 99.9% of the books out there. The book is told entirely from Nicky's pov. While he may be a romance writer in his professional life, he's a guy's guy in his every day life.
Throughout this book, he is trying to get Cat Steele to give him a chance. Cat doesn't do relationships after some bad choices a few years back. Honestly, she doesn't feel like she deserves happiness like that with someone...esp. someone like Nicky who has his own ghosts from his past haunting him. He doesn't need her ghosts too. But this is the first time in forever that Nicky can remember ever being this interested in a woman. For the first time, he can see a future relationship with someone...a kind of forever style of relationship and he's not willing to give up on that idea.
In the middle of all this is Josh Stone and his boys at the shop always giving Nicky a hard time. There are Cat's two protective older brothers who don't trust Nicky to take care of their sister and not break her heart. She's had enough pain in her life. She doesn't need anymore heartbreak and they are determined to keep that from happening.
This book is about friendship and forgiveness and learning how to move on from past mistakes. Yes, it's irreverent and the characters are loud and rambunctious, but I loved it. Nicky takes care of the people in his life. He has his tribe of souls that he would do anything for and you have to love a guy like that. No, this book is not going to be for everyone, but I LOVED IT. I fell in love with Nicky right alongside Cat (actually, I think I fell in love with him first, but...ya know, fictional character and all that...and honestly, Rie probably has dibs on both him and Josh. Maybe she'd share them on off-nights...)
I highly recommend you check out the sample on Amazon (or Rie probably has excerpts on her website) because I have a feeling that you'll fall in love with these guys too. Now bring on the Steele boys!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
