Clark & Dayna. Dayna & Clark. Scarred By You, SCARRED ME! This novel from the lovely Laura Carter was PERFECTION!

Laura blast onto the scene earlier this year with the Vengeful Love trilogy, which was fantastic. So imagine my delight when Laura brought this beauty out. And what a beauty it is.

Scarred by You is a soul searing, heart scarring story of love, loss, pain, hurt, deceit and lies. Everything about this book was explosive. Everything about this book was intense. Everything about Clark and Dayna was raw, passionate & powerful.

The blistering connection between Clark & Dayna burnt me from the moment they first came together. Exploded through me like fire and ice, through a deep, emotional push and pull of love and hate. Together they were raw, ruthless, hot. Apart they were raw, ruthless and hot. Everything about them works, thier connection blistering, sizzling through the pages, burnt me up and scarred my heart in the most glorious way!
I love both Clark and Dayna fiercely. Both incredibly strong willed and family orientated but so helplessly in love with the other, so utterly devoted, but so stubborn to see past revenge and family values to go for what they truly want.

Scarred by You is not only a push and pull love story. It's a suspenseful, twisty, story that threw me in so many different directions that when the twists fully unravelled I felt as though Laura had pulled the world from under my feet. It rocked me to my core, shocked me stupid and left me totally breathless.

I loved Scarred by You, loved Clark and Dayna and the intense, powerful words Laura has penned. Every part of this story fits, connects and works. And it's the reason why if I could I'd rate Scarred by You so much higher than 5 stars!

I can imagine this story is just the tip of the dangerous iceberg when doing oil business in the Middle East. **Shivers**

Clark Layton remembers vividly how it felt to be with Dayna Cross. As the CEO of Layton Oil and the CEO of Subsea Petroleum, their business interests are the same, but their interest in each other is even stronger. But four years ago, Clark walked away from Dayna without a backward glance, a devastating blow that Dayna never truly got over.

Now that Clark's reentered her circle, with a newly broken engagement and that smoldering look that gets her every.single.time, Dayna has to shore up her defenses against the only man who would…and will…break her heart. With the love still clearly there between them, it's only a matter of time before neither of them will be able to survive walking away again.

Holy crap this is a GREAT book! The overall feel was kind of edgy with a dangerous overtone, and I just kept waiting for Clark and Dayna to get together AND for shit to get ugly with their business interests. And both happened in spectacular fashion. The sexual tension between Clark and Dayna was incredibly thick, the angry, sensual back and forth, give and take was just swoonworthy. And when the danger element finally took root and shit got real, I loved how Clark manned up and did whatever he could to protect the woman he loved…even if she didn't necessarily want his help.

I went back and forth with Dayna, she was alternately bitchy and badass depending on the direction of the wind. She totally had a reason to be suspicious of Clark though, since dude screwed her over more than once. The sex in SCARRED BY YOU was heavy and erotic but not over the top, it actually melded well within the storyline. This was an incredibly fantastic book and I hope that this will ultimately turn into a series since all the characters are compelling!

Bottom Line: Technically no OW/OM or sharing (though the wedding being called off and the MC's hooking up a week later was major sketch); no condom use; no BDSM; no kink; no sexual assault; murder (past tense discussions); mild violence.

I am really going to struggle to get this out of my head and onto here but I will give it my best shot..

Laura wowed us all with her Vengeful Love series that I will be honest I only picked up because the covers gripped me. I am so glad they did because I wouldn't have had the pleasure of reading those awesome books.

When I found out she was releasing Scarred by you I was sure it was going to be good but not THAT good! It's hard to beat your first novels but Laura did that effortlessly.
Her writing is so easy to read, it flows perfectly! OK onto Scarred by you..

I just love Clark and Dayna! I think I actually have my first girl crush! She is a spunky, takes no prisoners, tough as nails woman who stands up with the big boys and shows no weakness in doing so.

Dayna and Clark had a brief affair a few years previously but through circumstance Clark ended their relationship. Move on a few years and Clark is marrying a woman who by all accounts is perfect. But then why did he break it off the day before his wedding day? Because of the one woman he let go.

His business rival is no other than Dayna and he will fight not only for his business but for the one that got away. But opening those memories, the truths of the past comes out.

Told in duel POV this book will have you at the edge of your seat reading. Not just their personal relationship but the business they're both pushing for.

This is the first book I've read by Laura Carter. Having met her at a signing earlier this year she's been on my tbr pile for awhile so when I saw Scarred By You I was intrigued and had to read it. Considering it's a standalone it seemed like the perfect place to start.

This book offered something different. While it deals with CEOs, both Clark and Dayna are in the oil industry. I've not seen this before and I thought it gave the book a uniqueness and interesting angle. The plot surrounding the oil companies was interesting and kept me intrigued as it's corrupt and dirty.

As for the relationship, I did think there was chemistry. The characters are put through their paces in this book and I enjoyed watching their journey play out. I believed in Clark's emotions, but I was glad Dayna didn't let him walk all over her.

I did wish there was a slight nod to the other characters at the end just to wrap things up a little more. Dayna's revenge fizzled out a little and I didn't understand why. However that's only minor--literally wanted a sentence here or there.

Overall this was a book that was different to what I've read before. It was well written and I thought it a great introduction to this author.

This was an extremely tough book for me to review as I've not read this type of genre in quite a while. CEO/Millionaire/Romance.

One dark evening I took to my bed, left my comfort zone and went in blind. And it was purely and simply because I'd heard good things about Laura Carter and wanted to see for myself what the commotion was all about.

So this is why people are shouting about this author... Boy can this lady write. Her words flowed so beautifully that they painted a picture in my head. Alongside the characters, I was taken into the story, and watched it play out from the sidelines. That's how good her writing skills are.

I was delighted that I left my usual genres and took a chance on this novel. And I hope you do too because this lady's penmanship is gold.

If you love second chance romances with a twist, and hot as hell rekindling sex scenes, then you're going to love this novel.

Scarred by you slayed me. Its as simple as that. Leaving me breathless, and desperate for more, I got lost in this heart wrenching story, and I invested my all into these characters, desperate for them to get their happily ever after. Laura Carter blew me away with this incredible story of heart break, second chances, and deceit and I couldn’t get enough. A five star read for me.

What a rollercoaster

Well, Clark certainly put Dayna through the mill. I was really pleased with how strong she was portrayed. Clark, the turd; it really took me a while to feel for him. Their journey though really was captivating.

If I could give this 6 stars I would! Wow. It's actually been about a week since I finished this book but I've been thinking about how to review it and do it justice. This book is genuinely a work of art, Laura has reached a new level of incredible with this one.

'Yet I wish we could stay like this. I wish I could stay in his arms. I wish the sun would never come up.'

I love London so I adore that her books are set in one of my favourite cities. The story opens with Clark (Layton) having left his fiancée on their wedding day, when he realises as much as he loves her, he isn't in love with her and he decides to stop doing what's expected of him and live instead. I couldn't help but respect him for that, he went against his controlling family (especially his father) in order to live his life as his true self.

' "I love you," she whispers. The first person who has ever told me they love me.'

Then there's Dayna, I adore Dayna. She's independent and strong but she has the biggest heart. She's also trapped by insecurities, trauma and grief. The novel is set 4 years after Clark broke her heart, so when he comes back into her life she's very cautious but she also can't completely ignore the pull she feels towards him.

"I want to smile again. I want to stop doing things because I feel obliged to do them. I want to do something that I want to do, and mostly, I want to be happy. The last time I remember feeling completely, truly happy was when we were together."

Dayna is special, she's been hurt so much and yet she's still surviving, feeling hopeful and being a very successful owner of an oil company, a rival to Layton Oil (the company Clark is running). They also end up competitive bidders for an oil well in the Persian Gulf that is being sold, which naturally causes some tensions and disagreements, particularly considering the personal reasons why Dayna is so desperate to attain this well.

' "This isn't goodbye." It has to be.'

You also discover early on via an inner monologue of Dayna's, about the sabotage done to an oil rig owned by Dayna's father, that led to numerous deaths and the subsequent suicide of her father. But things are even more complex than Dayna knows. The mystery aspect of this novel made it even more captivating and added a thriller type theme to it, I was scared and angry along with her, my heart racing at several points out of fear for Dayna and other innocents. However, I also loved that she turned to him when she needed him, that her independence and pride didn't prevent her from admitting she needed help and seeking help in someone she loved.

'Alone. Terrified. Unsafe. I scroll through my phone and find the only number I can think to call.'

They're both so terrified of rejection because they've experienced so much disappointment in their lives, and that broke my heart on multiple occasions. I wanted to defend them both from the rest of the world, because they deserved to feel safe and loved.

'There's only one place I'm going from here and that's home, with another rip in my heart because I let myself believe I could have my mother back.'

Luckily they found that in each other and it was so beautiful to see them grow and heal both individually and together. So to conclude, congratulations Laura and thank you for sharing such a beautiful and hopeful love story with the world. And to anyone that read my ridiculously extensive review, one click this book right now! You will not regret it

This was my first book by Laura carter and I will definitely be back. This book is about second chances, secretes, love and forgiveness. Clark has always been the odd man out in his family never quite fitting in. Known for his player ways he finds that one special woman to fall for but he messes it up and breaks her heart. Dayna is a strong woman trying to make it in a mans world and doing it well! She's had devastations and losses. She falls for Clark but he ends up breaking her heart. In the end they both have to come to terms with things life throws at them and try to figure out if they can have a second chance. This book made me laugh and cry! It's an amazing story!

Blimey what an emotional roller coaster this bad boy has just taken me on!! From meeting both Clark & Danya my head & heart have been pulled in every single direction, that at times i didn't know whether to love them or hate them for in equal measure.

Danya, after a tragedy involving her & her father life takes an unexpected turn, one that she is still reeling from. Now CEO of her fathers oil business, she seeks revenge & refuses to let anything, or anyone stand in her way - including Clark - that heart breaker, good for nothing asshole. To busy to love (well that asshole has broken her heart TWICE), she spends all of her time working her socks off to make SP the best in the industry & prove all of the haters wrong. That a woman can lead in a man's world. An opportunity arises to bid on a potential Rig, one that she knows will set the fires of hell burning, but in doing so, she puts herself in a danger even she can't deny. Can she trust the man who promised her the world once, before leaving her broken & hurting. Damn her feelings & damn him for being so god damn sexy & irresistible.

Clark - ooh yeah, this is one smooth, sexy CEO that I just adored. Cocky in all the right places, but with enough of a troubled past & heavy heart, you just want to smother him with love & kisses. Finding himself CEO of the family oil business due to his father's ill health, he is trying to leave his own mark & break free from his dad's chains & shadow. He has only ever loved one women, the one that consumes every waking moment & then some.. So why is he set to marry someone else. Having carried the family name & expectations like a weight around his shoulders, he now realises it cost him the only thing he ever wanted - Danya. Question now is, is he strong to stand on his own & fight for what he wants, no matter the consequence. And what if the consequences mean losing her.

OMG the push & pull drove me insane. Like seriously at times I wanted to throat punch someone & then I'd be like - ok, I like this path now lol. Emotions were sky high from start to finish, the suspense & plot twists kept those pages turning & the pulse racing & the character development really did bring it all together with a mind blowing ending & a beautifully written epilogue.

If you thrive on angst, passion, sexual tension, love, hate & second chance romances that include a drop dead gorgeous CEO then this is DEFINITELY for you.

Cant wait to see what Laura has in store for her next adventure!

Okay ...

I suck at reviews. Seriously. I'm not good at it. But I'll try. Cause I want to SCREAM! to the world how much I loved this book. (Bare with me. English is not my mother language)

My Story:

I just finished another book at 3am and I already knew that I had to get up at 7am. Yes ... When I finish a book on my kindle I'm used to select the book I want to read after, so I clicked on "Scarred by You" and that was a HUGE mistake. Cause ... it was 3freakingAM and I started reading. Only a couple of pages. Hah! Only a couple of pages my ass! 2 hours later I forced myself to STOP. I had to sleep. At least a bit. I slept till 6:30am, got up and kept on reading. Then I had to stop again cause I didn't want to break my neck when getting ready. Oh and then there was LIFE a.k.a. work. I never tried to snuck my kindle out and secretly read as much as this time EVER (Okay, maybe it happened here and there .... ). On my way home I started crying in the bus and people starred at me (WHAT A FREAK!).
When I finished the book I wanted more. Like. MORE!

Okay.
Scarred by You is AWESOME. It made me laugh, it broke my heart, it made me cry and it made me fall in love with the characters. Reading the Vengeful Love Trilogy I knew that Laura writes beautiful characters and I wasn't disappointed. Dayna and Clark are ... they are ... perfect.

Dayna is a strong woman, trying to survive in a mens business and showing them how GOOD women can be! She's smart and thank god she's not so naive to say "Fuck that shit, my heart rules my body!"

Clark is ... he's a good man, but he made mistakes and he knows it. He'd give anything to please the ones he loved till it's enough.

You can feel the fire between Clark and Dayna from the first moment on. You can feel their desire for each other, you can feel that they belong togehter. But you know ... that's never that easy.

Laura wrote a book you will devour. It's not just her style of writing which is absolutely beautiful and wonderful to read. It's everything about the book and more. I never thought "That seems odd", I never wanted to put the book down.

(Oh. And you got some plus points with the "Guten Tag" in your book xD)

- I said I suck at writing reviews. But whatever.
Here it is. Read the book. You will love it!

*I won an advanced copy of this book as part of a giveaway hosted by Laura Carter - Thank you!*

I'm already a HUGE fan of Laura Carter's, I fell in love with her Vengeful Love series, so you can only imagine how excited I was to read her latest release, Scarred by You. This book is about Clark and Dayna, who are both CEO's in their family's oil business. They have a history together, but it's not all good. Scarred by You is about rekindling love that you thought was lost and dealing with outside family and social pressures to stay together.

~MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS~

I really enjoyed this book. I liked that the story was in present time with only flashbacks of Clark and Dayna's history, which helped keep me engaged. The H/h have massive chemistry and their passion for each other is scorching HOT! I loved that although Dayna is a powerful woman in her industry, she isn't cold and frigid. She's very warm and loving and sensitive. I liked Clark as well, although I felt a little like the choices he made were weak, and that he was a bit too in love with his Ex. That bothered me a tad.

I was anxious by the time I reached 90% because I figured it would be another series and although I really don't like cliffhangers, I couldn't imagine how in a few short pages it would all end completely. I hate to say it, but I think it needed to be a series. I felt that Clark and Dayna's ending was rushed and that there was so much more to their love story, but I get the impression this is a standalone book. I'm a bit disappointed because most of the book Dayna and Clark were not together-together. They had moments, but they were fighting each other or working out their feelings and didn't have a chance to be together and in love. Those are my favorite parts, when the H/h come together FINALLY and just be a couple in love, until the next angsty part. We didn't really get that with Clark and Dayna and that makes me sad.

Overall, do I think this is a great book? YES! Do I wish some things were different to suit my preferences? Of course, but that's only my opinion. I think it's still an excellent book and DEFINITELY worth the read!!

What an incredible journey we are taken on.

We follow Dayna and Clark as they weave their way through a myriad of emotions, we join them after Clark cancels his upcoming wedding, making you instantly thing he is a scoundrel, but we learn out the truth and how its all for the right reasons.

Dayna, his ex-girlfriend finds out about the cancelled wedding, and from here on in she desperately tries to stay away not wanting to be a rebound.

They have a wonderful connection, and it was really heart breaking watching them, having a very strong will they/wont they feel.

I loved how their friends also made the whole story come together, how they helped them both, with skull duggery and more importantly being there when they really needed their friends.

It must have been so hard for both of them, finding out about the dreadful truths relating to their fathers disputes. Clark's parents were a manipulative pair who desperately tried to control Clarke's movements. I loved how protective he was of Dayna, once she learned the truth about the deception of the oil rig!

Clark and Dayna were competitors, both CEO's for Companies started by their fathers, within an industry known for its competitiveness.

Dayna was a very strong independent lady, but struggled to be accepted in a very male dominated industry, but she does an absolutely fab job, even if she doesn't quite thing so.

The tooing and froing between Clark and Dayna give you whiplash and where you do really feel for them both at times, you can't help but be their biggest cheerleaders.

Truth, lies, hatred, compassion, friendship and love are some of the feels you go through, at times you just wanted to give them both big hugs and t other times a clip around the ear!

Loved the skiing weekend, glad it was the start of them both opening up and actually talking to each other.

I felt the book took on a more relaxed feel towards the final furlong, when they were both actually on the same page, working together instead of pulling apart.

A 2nd chance story, full of grit, plenty to get your teeth into, with a great ending.

Thanks for the opportunity in having an ARC. I will post this up on Goodreads, Amazon UK & USA

This is the first book I have read by Laura Carter and I can tell you now it will definitely not be the last. I absolutely LOVED Laura's writing style. The words flowed effortlessly off the pages and before I knew it had been absorbed into the story so much, I was at the end of the book having completed an absolutely superb 5 star read. This book had it all, full of twists, turns and surprises throughout with a wonderful connection between the main two characters, which you really hoped would work out for them.

This story takes place within the ruthless oil industry featuring Clark Layton and Dayna Cross who have a lot of history with one another. The oil industry is a huge focus to this story which I found to be really refreshing and different from other stories. It also obviously means there is a lot of scope for lies, deception, and danger!

In the past due to outside influences and family ties Clark left Dayna and he left her at one of the worst times of her life. But as the story is revealed and the deep hurts are revisited and scars are opened we start to understand why certain decisions were made and why things happened the way they did.

I loved both Clark and Dayna's characters. I loved Clark's protectiveness and loyalty to to Dayna. He is hugely protective, loving and caring. The heat and intensity between these two was off the charts without being over the top. I also loved the fact that Dayna was such a powerful businesswoman in her own right. She has had to deal with some awfully difficult and testing times, but appears to have an enormous amount of strength and independence; at least on the surface.

Scarred by You is written in dual POV from both Dayna and Clark. The story flows brilliantly and the flashbacks really help to gain some understanding of the history behind certain events. A brilliant hot and sexy story, with a serious side, which will have you on the edge of your seat with some twists you really won't see coming!

Clark Layton and Dayna Cross are in competing for a lucrative new pipeline forcing them into a battle. The past hurt is deep between these two owners of rifle petroleum companies. Dayna never planned on running Subsea Petroleum but because of things out of her control it was the only option available and she sure is not going to let Clark win out on this new pipeline. Even though Clark is head of one of the largest oil companies and is about to marry a lady most men would kill for, he is just not happy. The guilt of hurting Dayna causes him to irrational behavior for a man in his position. He cancels the wedding the night before he is due to walk down the aisle with a woman who was every man's dream girl. He can’t forgive himself for what he did to Dayna in the past and marrying someone else is all wrong for so many reason. The bids for the new pipeline open both Dayna and Clark wounds that never healed. Is it too late to repair their relationship? Is it just the competition, is it guilt or is it their parents that are causing them to relive the past? Can these two find common ground? Will there be a future for them in business or in their love life?

This was a great story of so many twists, turns, and suspense it was difficult to put down. It was also great reading about the oil industry and all that goes on from drilling to pipelines this author did her homework. This was not a common work field you find in most books involving a billionaire alpha male which enhanced the storyline. The past and secrets that were revealed were rather surprising. I didn't see them coming. I found the interaction with family, friends, co-workers all added to the story and at times added some needed laughter to this intense story. This is a fast paced story, so be prepared for the suspenseful ride into the cutthroat world of international oil companies. You will not be disappointed is all I can say without providing any spoilers.

I was really looking forward to this new standalone by Laura after reading her trilogy earlier in the year, and she didn't disappoint!!

Clark Layton is CEO of Layton Oils, having been groomed into the position by his father. He is a player, likes his women and his drink, has everything he could want, apart from the one woman in the world, and that's not his fiancee he's just dumped the night before they get married!

Dana Cross is CEO of Subsea Petroleum, having taken over after her father died. She's a woman in a man's world, and has a lot to prove. What she doesn't need is Clark breaking down her hard built walls and burying his way back into her life - or does she?

These two have history, and a world of hurt to go with it! But their connection is just explosive and cannot be ignored.

I loved the story line, very intriguing revolving around the oil business, really kept my attention. Lots of twists in the plot that was quite suspensful and dark at times. Lots of passion, intrigue, lies, deceit, love and hate.

Dana's character was great, strong and sassy, intelligent and ruthless in business, yet vulnerable when it came to Clark, who knows just what an ass he can be, but is determined to break down Dana's walls and to show her just how much he has changed.

Story is told from a dual POV and goes back in time to give a history on their relationship as it builds throughout the story. Some great sexy scenes in this without going OTT. A real page turner, I very much wanted to keep reading to find out just what had happened in this.

A great read, highly recommended.

This was a fabulous read!

“It wasn’t about other women at all. It was about one devastating woman.”

Clark Layton and Dayna Cross are both CEOs of their families’ respective oil companies. They also have some intense history between them. Clark has hurt Dayna immensely in the past, and now she hates him. However, when he calls off his wedding hours before the ceremony, it throws Dayna for a loop.

“My one and only regret was listening to my own doubts, bowing to my father once again, and walking away from Dayna.”

Aside from their past history, there’s also plenty going on in the present with their businesses, as well as their hearts, as bit by bit, stunning secrets from the past are revealed, and everything Clark and Dayna thought to be true is called into question.

“The man I fell in love with four years ago. The man who tore my heart to shreds, not one time but two. The man who manages to break another piece of me, no matter how small, every time I hear his name”

Dayna is driven and stubborn, but Clark is definitely her Achilles heel. Clark has been under his father’s thumb for so long, until one defining moment when he realises that the woman he wants forever with is not the woman he was engaged to. His past behaviour means that he has his work cut out in winning Dayna back for good.

This was a well-rounded story with a brilliant plot, hot scenes, and great characters. It’s written with so much feeling – scorching chemistry, plenty of passion, as well as anguish. Loved it!

This was a great story from Laura Carter. It is the first book I have read by Laura but it won't be the last as I really enjoyed reading this one.

The story is about Dayna and Clarke. They had an affair a few years ago and now they are both business rivals. Clarke has just called his wedding off and Dayna and Clarke are both thrown back together. Neither really got over the spilt all them years ago but can rival be lovers and can Dayna trust Clarke not to break her heart again.

This was great read and it even had an underline touch of suspense as well. The chemistry and sexual tension between Dayna and Clarke was hot. It's told duel POV which I love and I think it is so much easier to get to know the characters in the book. Clarke I instantly liked and I loved how protective of Dayna he was. It took me a while to warm up to Dayna but she too turned out to be a strong female character who was only trying to protect her heart. The book is very well written and has a great pace. It has me hooked pretty much from the beginning and on the edge of seat with elements of suspense and danger that were thrown in. There are lots of twists and turns and I felt that it was good original plot.

Overall a great read with some angst, sexual chemistry, danger, suspense and overall a second chance of romance story that I would highly recommend. I'll also be checking out Laura's other books.

I read this because I absolutely loved the Trilogy laura debuted with earlier this year. Scarred by you is a standalone book and does not end on a cliff hanger.

I have to say I wasn't sure what to expect but I know I enjoy Laura's writing style so was happy to give this a go and see what happens. What I got was a gripping story with lots of different things going on. This is a really clever book because there is so much going on, personal relationships, business decisions, lies, deceit and hot steamy scenes that were not too much but contributed to the story.

The story was told from both main character's perspectives so by the end of the book we got to know them really well. I have to say I was unsure of the characters at the start of the book because every character be that a main character or a side / secondary character I didn't really like. There seemed to be nothing likeable about any of them. Thankfully the main characters redeemed themselves and I got to enjoy the book a lot more towards the end because I got the reasons as to why they were the way they were.

This book was a gripping and intense read. All the while I was reading it I was waiting for the hitting the fan moment and even though I thought I knew what was going to happen, Laura turned the screws and completely blew up my theory!

This was a fab read and I look forward to reading more from this author.

I went into reading this book not knowing the author or even what the book was about. All that I knew when I agreed to read and review this book was that my dear friend Kelsey Burns recommended that I read it, and if you know Kelsey and are smart you take all of her recommendations seriously. And was I ever pleasantly surprised; this was one of the better books that I have read in a long while that has come from an unknown, newbie author. Laura Carter sure does know how to wield her pen; the words in this story were so beautifully strewn together and brought to life on paper.
The story was about two CEO rivals (Clark Layton and Dayna Cross) that have a deep connection and a troubled history together. Clark was engaged to a beautiful woman from a good family, but he left her the day before his wedding because he was still hung up on the woman that stole his heart.
Dayna had one thing on her mind for the last few years, and that was to revive her father's oil company and show all of those businessmen that she would succeed and surpass them all in the man's world of the oil business. There was only one major problem with her plan, the man that took and broke her heart and then ran-away as her entire world shattered around her...Clark Layton.
I am so very happy that Kelsey suggested that I read this sweet little gem. This definitely was a rare one of a kind story. I honestly cannot wait to see what Laura Carter will bring to the table in the future.

This was a very emotional romantic story. I really enjoyed reading it from beginning until end. Loved how it was written and the story really blended well. Definitely worth the read.

Clark seems to have everything he wants and is the CEO of one of the biggest oil companies in the world. Dayna is a competitor and recently became the CEO of her father's company. Both are trying to reel in a new lucrative deal and will have to fight for what they want. But their past and future will eventually collide. Will they stand a chance or will everything fall apart? They'll have to decide where their heart will lead them next...

I was so excited to hear that Laura carter had a new book out and a standalone at that! I loved her vengeful love trilogy, so knowing I could read more of her work was great.
I can say I definitely I wasn't disappointed in scarred by you!

I love Laura's style of writing, from start to finish it just flows so easy. All the way through we get Clark and Daynas POV which for me really helps me connect with the characters, and connect I did. I felt for both of them so much throughout their story, and maybe felt like banging their heads together in places. The story gave us a look in to the past 4 years, but not to the point where it was to much past and not enough present. The chemistry between the two of them was hot, but again not over done.

There was so many twists and turns that left me so shocked I didn't see them coming. There were parts that i wanted to hate Clark but you just can't when you find everything out.

The research and knowledge that has gone into this book is amazing. Laura hasn't just put "pen to paper" to make this she has made sure the right details are in there to make it all so much better. I would highly recommend for any Laura Carter fans to pick up this book. Or if you have never read her books before why not start here.

5 well deserved ***

Dayna Cross and Clark Layton are rivals, each owning a large oil company, competing in that ruthless world. They are not only rivals in business, but they share a personal history. At two separate times in their lives, they had very passionate but brief relationships. Each separation more heartbreaking than the last. Laura Carter writes a realistic, gripping story about the intricacies of the oil business and a heartrending tale of two people who struggle to belong to each other, even though their families try to keep them apart.

Scarred by You is very aptly named, as both Dayna and Clark are scarred by their past relationships, but also are scarred by their families, and the mysteries that are revealed in this tale. This book is by far my favorite book of Laura Carter’s. Her background as a lawyer was displayed in her previous series, Vengeful Love, and that attention to detail is again brought to use with the oil industry in this book. In Scarred by You she has hit her stride with the emotions her characters display. They were deftly written, with just the write touch of passion and emotion. I believe this author has hit her stride and we can look forward to each future book being better than the last.

Another beautiful, read from Laura a story that grabs hold of your heart and pulls you in to a story of love so deep that even during the worst moment of your life there is only one that you want, a love so deep that you question everything you are about and your entire life for one person even if this means heartache for you?

Both strong willed and stubborn and for Dayna her job in a mans world has made her tougher than most, but with a fire in her heart and a past that's about to become present can Dayna stay strong and overcome everything she is about to be faced with?

Clark, a man that has or had everything most could want but for him his heart is aching for the past a past that's about to catch up with and turn his world upside down.

Clarke and Danya's story will pull you and push you in every direction, there are plot twists that will make your heart sink and ignite the flames of anger as your heart truly breaks at times for the pair. Can they overcome the past and face a future together ?

A highly recommended 5star read of love, passion, and complete devotion.
