Natalie Portman has signed on to star as Jackie Kennedy in Jackie, a new biopic from Pablo Larrain, the Chilean director of Oscar-nominee No.
The film will follow the first four days in Jackie Kennedy’s life after the assassination of her husband, President John. F. Kennedy. Darren Aronofsky, who directed Portman to her Oscar-winning performance in Black Swan, will produce Jackie.
Insiders, Wild Bunch’s newly launched L.A.-based sales company, is handling international sales on Jackie and has been shopping the script to buyers in Cannes. CAA reps U.S. domestic rights.
Juan de Dios Larrain of Chile’s Fabula shingle is producing together with Aronofsky and Scott Franklin at Protozoa Pictures. Production is set to start by the end of the year. It will be Larrain‘s next project after Neruda, which shoots in June.
Portman is in Cannes presenting her directorial debut, the Hebrew-language feature A Tale of Love of Darkness, which premieres out of competition on Thursday, May 14.
