5th InterRail tour of EYP - Ukraine | description

Initially, InterRail Tour was established in 2009 in order to outreach participants in Ukrainian regions. Since 2002, when EYPUkraine was officially registered in Ukraine, most of the activities were concentrated in the capital. Hence, the goal of the project turned to be further involvement of youngsters across Ukraine on a regional level , organising EYP events in their hometowns. We believe that youth in Ukrainian regions have fewer opportunities to get involved in the activities of international NGOs in general and the European Youth Parliament in particular, but what is even more important – to get a chance to debate and voice their own opinion regarding urgent domestic and international issues. There is also little knowledge about the European integration and democratic decision making processes, thus the need for the development of civil society in Ukrainian regions exists. The target audience of the project includes students of the last two years of high school (grades 10 and 11), students of higher educational establishments (year 14) aged 1620 as well as other youth provided they fit within the age frames of the organisation. During the selection process we strive to achieve a balance of gender, social and ethnic background among the participants of each session. Altogether we plan to involve 350 young people from Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Kryvyi Rih, Izmail, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia and Odessa as well as 4 teams of Officials from all over Europe.

th The 5 InterRail Tour of EYPUkraine is headorganised by Halyna Virt and Nataliia Senatorova . This year the project concept has been developed significantly in order to uphold the high academic standards as well as the project’s impact. The conference in each city will resemble a standard EYP session as well as innovative elements and include the following activities: Teambuilding, Committee Work, General Assembly, Understanding Europe EU Crash Course for Delegates and Teachers and Teachers’ training . The project is composed of 8 Regional Sessions. Each team will conduct two Regional Sessions in two different cities one right after another one. All the Officials’ Team (President, VicePresident, Chairpersons, Organisers, Media Team and other trainers) will be divided into 4 Teams: East, West, North and South . Each will consist of: 1 President , 1 VicePresident, 4 Chairs, 2 Journalists, 1 Travel Organiser, 1 Understanding Europe trainer and 1 Teachers’ trainer. Also, we expect to involve more than 350 Delegates who will be allocated in 4 different Committees in advance. The President is responsible for the academic part of a session as well as preparation before the event, smooth process during the session and evaluation and feedback after the project. The President will be accompanied by VicePresident who will assist the President. Together they will compose the board of the session. President as well as VicePresident are not allocated to the Committees. They will be assisting the Chairs’ Team. Chairs’ Team is composed of 4 Chairpersons. Each Chairperson will take of a group (Committee) of 1012 Delegates. Each Committee has its own topic they

discuss during the respective session. At the end of every Regional Session, each Committee will present its own resolution which will tackle the problem in their topic. Furthermore, the Team will be accompanied by two Journalists who will guarantee visual output of the activities. Moreover, Understanding Europe Trainer as well as Teachers’ trainer will be responsible for EU Crash Course and Teachers’ training respectively. All of this will be supervised by Travel Organiser who is in touch with the project on spot along with the local organising team. The EU Crash Course : Understanding Europe is a workshop which introduces how the EU functions in an interactive way. It works with the peertopeer principle trainer teams come to make the course happen. The incorporation of this element to the session is aimed at upholding the academic standards as well as to provide participants with necessary knowledge on the EU institutions. Teachers’ training is incorporated too in order to maintain and develop communication with local teachers. The teachers’ training will include introduction to EYP, explanation of our methodology, possible ways of cooperation, opportunities for students and EU Crash Course as well. th A Regional Session within 5 InterRail is expected to serve as a nice and friendly environment for first time Delegates and provide them with the opportunity to engage, learn more about current political issues as well as serve platform for exchanging different ideas.
