Ylang Ylang Oil for
Balancing and Supporting

Ylang Ylang oil is steam distilled from the flowers of the tree. And means “flower of flower” among other things (read below). It has been used customarily for promoting healthy hair and balancing emotions.

It is interesting that the quality of Ylang Ylang oil depends very much on the time that the flowers are picked and the distillation process. The best time to pick the flower is in the early morning; this yields the best and most oil.

There is at least five different oil qualities named according to the distillation process. And there are several methods on how to name them also!

But, what is consistent is that the first hour of distillation produces the best quality oil. This is referred to as Ylang Ylang Complete. The poorest quality is taken last and is called Cananga.

Although this is an easy oil to find it may be hard to locate a therapeutic grade just because once again it becomes a labeling and marketing issue. Therefore, it is important to choose a reputable essential oil company to purchase Ylang Ylang from if you want the best results possible.

Ylang Ylang is in many of my favorite oil blends including Peace & Calming, Present Time, Into the Future and Harmony essential oil blends.

These are all blends that I use daily for myself and the horses. And I understand why Ylang Ylang is an essential component in each of them!

Want an oil that is made with many of the blends that contain Ylang Ylang?

Then try Awaken Blend. This amazing oil contains Harmony, Forgiveness, Present Time, Joy and Dream Catcher blends!

I designed this section so you could use it as a fun and easy reference guide. It will tell you how to use your oil and what to use it for. It will also provide you with some fun tips, testimonials and oil trivia!

As I receive new tips and testimonials they will be added to the page, so check back often!

What is Nan's Mental (Mindset), Emotional and Spiritual Interpretation of this Oil?

Ylang Ylang Oil has been used to balance male and female energies so one can achieve a state of harmony.

Remember, we are out of balance if we are extremely dominant in one side of the brain (left - logical; right - intuitive). The sides of the brain are suppose to work together with the heart to create equilibrium between doing and being-not pushing or fighting through which seems to be a norm these days.

Ylang Ylang supports us by releasing negative emotions such as anger, possessiveness or low self-esteem. And fostering positive emotions such as confidence, self love and spiritual awareness to how we can do life in a different way other than what we were taught.

The plant messages me - "Go beyond perceptions and sterotypes-thats all they are-self imposed limitations and perceptions of what is really true. The feminine nature is the balancing component which is required to be whole."

Ylang Ylang oil also helps those who are mentally or spiritually drained because of lack of this balance described above. It brings the body, mind and spirit back into alignment.

What is the corresponding Chakra Color? Pink

  • Apply several drops (2-4) on location
  • Apply to chakras
  • Directly inhale
  • Diffuse

What are the Safety Precautions? First, only use therapeutic grade essential oils when wanting results! Because it is approved as a Food Additive (FA) by the FDA, Ylang Ylang oil is readily available on the market in many different qualities.

One of the Ylang Ylang oil benefits is that is has no know contraindications and it is generally regarded as safe (GRAS). However, repeated use can possibly result in contact sensitization. Use sparingly if you have low blood pressure.
