A Vancouver student has seen her provocative photo commenting on skirt lengths become an internet hit.

The picture from 18-year-old Rosea Lake, titled "Judgments", shows a woman's leg - belonging to Lake's friend - depicting stereotypes of skirt length and the way in which women choose to dress.

The leg has a number of horizontal lines drawn on, each representing a different skirt length with labels such as "prudish" and "flirty".

The photo was posted on Tumblr on January 5th and has been liked and re-blogged more than 300,000 times.

Lake told The Huffington Post: "[I wanted to] take the idea of impersonal, supposedly objective measurement of things and put it on something that we do measure, but don't talk about.

"We measure women the same way we measure water cylinders, but no-one says it because it's mean."

Lake took to Tumblr to admit that the project made her think about her own judgments on other women.

She wrote: "Working on this project really made me examine my own opinions, preconceptions and prejudices about 'slutty' women and women who choose to cover all their skin alike."
