Josh Huff opens up about how Chip Kelly's kept Eagles together, despite losing skid

PHILADELPHIA -- The signs are just about everywhere.

From allegations that the players have quit on head coach Chip Kelly, to players pointing fingers at the philosophies of the coaching staff, the Eagles have all the trappings of a fractured locker room amid an ugly three-game losing streak.

However, while some of questioned his methodology, Eagles wide receiver Josh Huff says that it's been Kelly that has kept this team together during perhaps the worst struggle of the head coach's career.

"Chip is always in my opinion is always a leader that you look for," Huff said following Thursday's practice at the NovaCare Complex. "Honestly, the last two weeks we've gotten beat badly. But, you never see him panic on the sideline. I don't think you want your players to see you panicking if you are panicking. He's stayed positive throughoutt he whole situation. We're just looking to turn things around."

Huff knows Kelly better than most given the fact that he played for the third-year head coach at Oregon and was chosen by the Eagles in the third round, a bit higher than most experts had him graded in the 2014 draft class.

The Oregon product with 20 catches for 224 yards and three touchdowns this season says that the players appreciate Kelly's level-headed approach as the seas have gotten choppy of late.

"He never panics in adverse situations," Huff said. "In life you're going to have problems in life. He treats football just like life. You can't overreact to something that's been going bad whether it's one week or two weeks or three weeks.

"You can't react or overreact to failure. You can't be afraid to fail. If you do fail, you have to pick yourself up and make those corrections and keep moving. You can't worry about the outsiders. Just continue to keep our head down, keep pushing and keep believing in this team."

Huff said that he hasn't seen any noticeable change in the way Kelly's handled his players with the Eagles from his days in Eugene, Ore.

Despite allowing 90 points over the last two games and dropping three straight against last-place opponents, Huff says that there hasn't necessarily been a 'win one for the gipper' type moment over the last month. Rather, Kelly's message has been clear, succinct and well received.

"Just keep working," Huff said was Kelly's message to his players. "We'll pick our heads up on January 3rd and see where we're at. We just have to take it one day at a time, one game at a time and try to better ourselves each and every day."
