The process of creating extruded rubber parts and their multiple applications

The popularity of rubber products continue to increase with each passing day. This is all thanks to rubber technology. With the increase in number of various rubber modification techniques, there is always something fantastic in the market for you to purchase. These include the rubber extrusion and rubber molding. These are two processes which produce fantastic custom rubber parts with lots of applications all over the world.

The rubber extrusion process

Usually molded rubber parts are different extruded rubber depending on the process where the extruded parts were forced through a die of a certain cross section. With molded rubber, there is melting of vulcanized rubber. This is not the case with extruded rubber. The rubber is not vulcanized when it is being extruded. It is therefore soft and pliable after the extrusion. The finished product will usually have to be vulcanized before it can be put up on the market for use.

Rubber extrusion sets off with the rubber compound being fed into the extruder then the flutes of the revolving screw will carry it forward into the die. With the increase in temperature and pressure, the material is passed through the openings of the die where it swells based on hardness and the nature of the material compound used. As a result of this swelling, many extruded parts require some allowance (plus or minus) on their cross sections.
When the rubber is vulcanized it will shrink in both length and cross section. Once the vulcanization is done, the rubber can be used for a variety of activities including:

1. Used for sealing purposes in aerospace engineering

2. Used to created tubing and other equipment in the medical industries

3. Some custom rubber parts are used in the food and dairy industry for various processes.

4. Extruded parts can be used for decoration in architecture Simply put the applications of extruded rubber are just so many. These rubber parts can be created to suit whatever specific needs you have.
