...this is my 1st time voting in 1 of these (1st band chosen that i really cared for)...when do we get the results? are there multiple rounds? I keep them open for about a week, this one is open until midnight EST on September 6th. There aren't multiple rounds for each artist, I just post the full results at the end of the period and then we move on to the next artist based on how everyone voted on this poll.

Probably going to skip this one since I only know like 10 songs by them, and I don't like them all lol. "Knights of Cydonia" would have been my #1 though.

Is Exogenesis: Symphony considered one song, or are you counting each part separately? Never mind, I'll just do it as one. It's a symphony, so it has multiple parts by definition.
Just started The 2nd Law. After I finish this one, all I have left is Drones and Hullaballoo. I like my top 10 where it is right now, though, so I don't see too much change. I'll probably be ready to post my list here in a couple of days.

I'm listening to "Drones" now. I'll admit that I'm not a huge Muse fan, so choosing ten songs isn't anywhere as hard as some of the other band tournaments. I'll probably have this done later today or tomorrow.

Submitted mine.
2 from Showbiz 1 from Origin of Symmetry (surprisingly. I thought I'd have a lot more from that one.) 2 from Absolution 3 from Black Holes and Revelations 2 from The Resistance 4 singles, 6 album tracks.
I don't have anything from The 2nd Law or Drones, but I still like them fine. The Handler and Reapers both came pretty close.

Just a quick bump to let everyone know that the submissions close tomorrow at midnight EST. So far I've received 18 submissions, and the vote for our fifth artist is incredibly close. Should be interesting to see how everything shakes out.

Pulse Top 10s #4 - Muse - Results
Alright, time to look at the results of our fourth vote! 21 posters sent in responses, a step back from the last few, however two new posters joined the panel. Thanks to crash46 and Bangwave for submitting this time around. Black Holes and Revelations dominated the top slots, though every album had decent representation. About halfway through the week, the Top 8 comprised entirely of songs from Black Holes and Revelations and Absolution, however the chart balanced itself out by the deadline. Glad to see Knights of Cydonia in the top spot. I was one of the four people who didn't vote for it, but it's still a great song. I was worried either Starlight or Madness was going to win (I don't really like either one). I was a unique voter on half of mine. I didn't think Darkshines would've had a chance.

I really can't stand "Starlight". It was really overplayed. Great winner anyway.

Honestly, I expected this list to heavily feature the singles. It's still a bit of a shock to see some fan favorite songs as low as they are, though. Can't really complain about "Knights" as the #1, and I'm pleasantly surprised to see the support for "Animals". That song is so great. As for my #1, well, "Starlight" will always be my personal favorite Muse track. It's the song that made me a superfan of the band. I regret nothing.

I'm really surprised Knights of Cydonia is the number one voted song here, although hearing it on XM Radio was my introduction to Muse. (I was pretty surprised when I started checking out other Muse songs and finding out that Cydonia is pretty different from a lot of their other work!) I'm surprised, and a little upset, that Madness made it as high as #6 - the buildup is so slow, and the payoff not enough.

Both Madness and Uprising were so incredibly overplayed at their respective peaks; it's impossible for me to listen to either song objectively any more.

After an incredibly close vote, The Red Hot Chili Peppers squeaked ahead of Rise Against by one vote to claim our fifth artist slot. I'm also making a quick rule change this week; bumping off the bottom two artists each week is too severe so I'm changing that to one artist a week. With the fewest votes in the poll, Incubus is kicked out, but they could easily slide back into the poll with enough nominations in the three open spots on this week's form. The two new artists to enter are Alice in Chains and R.E.M. If you have any questions/complaints, feel free to let me know in the thread and we can change things if necessary. Here's the form for the Red Hot Chili Peppers.I'll keep the vote open until Friday, September 18th, at Midnight EST. Thanks for voting!

I think I may sit this one out. I'm not a huge RHCP fan. If I do decide to participate, I'll probably do what I did with the LP vote and just post a few songs, but I don't see it happening.

Coldplay with 3 votes didn't make it over the 2 votes For Alice in Chains? Nope. I use the past five weeks' worth of answers from those three open questions to determine the artists that make the poll, not just the previous week's votes. This is to help break any ties that might come up. Each week the previous weeks' votes are worth less and less until they are over five weeks old, after which I purge those results. (Muse's week=100%, Linkin Park's=80%, Green Day's=60% all the way to the initial recommendation thread=20%). For example after the RHCP poll, the nominations from the first ever thread (prior to the FF vote) will be purged. I have a grand Excel sheet that does all of the calculations for me. Alice In Chains had been getting a lot of support over the past few weeks (having at least one vote for the past four polls), compared to Coldplay who had a big spike this last week but the two polls before that had no voters asking for their inclusion. I think it's the best way to avoid ties, (especially if the amount of joke votes for those questions keep increasing ). So never fear, I'm not gaming the results in any way, if a bunch of people write in Coldplay this week it is likely that they'll make the poll for our sixth vote. I hope that makes sense for you.

I see, that makes sense. So say for Incubus if we want to vote them back in, would it count as if 1 week's worth of write-in votes or the past 5 weeks selection votes also counts towards them? Just wondering if it would be a lost cause or not to vote for them since big difference between 1 week of tabulations vs 5 weeks.

Just wondering if it would be a lost cause or not to vote for them since big difference between 1 week of tabulations vs 5 weeks. Incubus keeps all of their past votes over the past five weeks, and songs also get points for how they place on the ballot. So they could re-enter next week, in fact AC/DC was only one vote away from making the vote this week, R.E.M. just barely passed by them at the end. I guess this might be a bit of a spoiler, but it should make things clear. As of right now (before counting any of the votes this week), only one artist is above Incubus in points when excluding artists currently on the ballot. So they currently sit in one of the two spots that would make the poll next week, however that could change depending on how the posters vote this time around. Maybe it's over complicated, but I'm having fun doing it that's all that counts for me.
