AbuzFilmUSADOMSTOL Video Norway“in most cases it is assumed that it is in the best interest if the parents get to an agreement over the matters regarding the child custody as this will have a conflict reducing effect and provide a better basis for cooperation in the future” but while they state this rule they also state the exception and tells the mediation in "violence" situations is not the right thing to do. Then it moves to the topic of the parental conflict (abuse) against each other. Even there I could agree with most statements and recommendations. There are obviously situation of inter-parental abuses and probably the percentage of the violence is greater to men. DOMSTOLvideo1video2video3video4xreadyxxx[ngo5541

AbuzArticolUSAEmotional Incest = Sexuality Abuse "Consider a scenario where mother is crying in her bedroom and her three year old toddles into the room. To the child it looks as if mom is dying. The child is terrified and says, "I love you mommy!" Mom looks at her child. Her eyes fill with love, and her face breaks into a smile. She says, 'Oh honey, I love you so much. You are my wonderful little boy/girl. Come here and give mommy a hug. You make mommy feel so good.'

A touching scene? No. Emotional abuse! The child has just received the message that he/she has the power to save mommy's life. That the child has power over, and therefore responsibility for, mommy's feelings. This is emotional abuse, and sets up an emotionally incestuous relationship in which the child feels responsible for the parent's emotional needs.

AbuzArticolUSAHealing Emotional IncestJohn Bradshaw defines emotional incest as a child being their parent’s “surrogate spouse”. When mom or dad does not get the emotional attention that they feel they deserve or crave from their partner, or they feel angry at them, they then lean on their child for attention, love, and emotional support. As you can imagine, this will send all kinds of negative hidden messages to children, as well as cause them to feel stuck in unhealthy emotional patterns when relating as adults. AbuzArticolGermanyLoss of Child Well-Being [ngo2645] Non-sexual forms of child abuse and maltreatment are difficult to define because they range on a continuous scale between forms of impairment, neglect, endangering, acute danger, etc. Methods to treat this quasi-continuous problem are required to allow for reliable and reproducible decision making in the fields between child welfare and child protection. An empirical list of 151 items on hostile-aggressive parenting has been assessed by 13 experts from various disciplines by means of a Delphi procedure. Assessments show large rater variability and rater bias which can be attributed, among other factors, to differing experiences and different background among raters. We present a method by which assessments can be projected on a continuous scale of a ‘relative loss of child well-being’. As a solution for decision makers we provide threshold values and reference ranges for this loss of child well-being. The quantifications suggested by the present approach can support decision making at family courts and child protection agencies and the results can be used by professionals as well as by parents to comparatively evaluate own assessments of family or custody issues.Hans Peter Duerr & Yolanda A. AbuzArticolInternationalThe Hague Convention of 25 October 1980 on the Civil Aspects of International Child AbductionAlthough international child abduction is not a new problem, the incidence of such abductions continue to grow with the ease of international travel, the increase in bi-cultural marriages and the rise in the divorce rate. International child abductions have serious consequences for both the child and the left- behind parent. The child is removed, not only from contact with the other parent, but also from his or her home environment and transplanted to a culture with which he or she may have had no prior ties. International abductors move the child to another State with a different legal system, social structure, culture and, often, language. These differences, plus the physical distance generally involved, can make locating, recovering and returning internationally abducted children complex and problematic.pdf-enpdf-en-rohtml-en-full textxxwip de tradusxxx[ngo680]

AbuzArticolSpaniaReciprocal Psychological Aggression in Couples A Multi-Level Analysis in a Community SampleThe present study analyzes reciprocal psychological aggression assessed by the Conflict Tactics Scale–Revised (CTS-2) in a sample of 590 adult couples from the Region of Madrid. Psychological aggression is the most frequent form of partner aggression. Results showed high percentages of psychological aggression perpetrated and suffered in men and women and showed significant statistical differences in severe psychological aggression in the case of women. Partner agreement about acts of psychological aggression was significant, albeit at moderate levels. Generalized Hierarchical Linear Models with the HLM-6.0 program were proposed to examine reciprocal psychological aggression. The models confirmed the pattern of reciprocal psychological aggression and also that couples are more aggressive when they are younger. Duration of cohabitation was not a predictor of reciprocal psychological partner aggression.María Luisa Cuenca Montesino, PhD1 José Luis Graña Gómez, PhD1 Rosario Martínez Arias, PhD1xxhtml-enxxwip de gasitxxx[ngo4395]

AbuzstudiuUSAThe Process of Reporting and Receiving Support Following Exposure to Intimate Partner Violence During ChildhoodWhile a significant body of research suggests that exposure to intimate partner violence (IPV) during childhood has severe and long-lasting consequences, little is known about how children cope with witnessing IPV, including who they tell about the violence, whether they receive support after disclosing, and the association between childhood disclosure and adulthood mental health. The current study examines these issues in 703 Swedish young adults who endorsed witnessing IPV during childhood. In this sample, 57% reported that they had ever confided in someone about the witnessed violence. The primary reason given for not disclosing was the belief that no one could do anything about it, which was endorsed by 41% of the young adults who kept the violence concealed. Individuals who disclosed the violence were most likely to tell a friend and least likely to use an anonymous hotline. Young adults with higher levels of depression were less likely to have disclosed IPV during their childhood. Individuals’ use of formal reporting outlets was endorsed infrequently, with only 5.2% recalling that they had personally reported the violence or someone else had reported it on their behalf. If such reports were filed, it was most likely to the police. These formal reports typically resulted in participants feeling that the problem continued anyway or that they were believed, but no changes were made. Given the infrequent use of formal reporting services, results suggest that for this sample, reporting outlets for IPV exposure may be underutilized and may not be perceived as beneficial.Kathryn H. AbuzStudiuSUAThe Effectiveness of Psychological Treatment for Reducing Recidivism in Child Molesters: A Systematic Review of Randomized and Nonrandomized StudiesIn this systematic review, the effectiveness of psychological treatment interventions for child molesters was examined. Studies were restricted to randomized control trials (RCTs), controlled trials, and cohort designs where recidivism had been used as the outcome variable. ASSIA, NCJRS, Medline, PsychINFO, EMBASE, Pro-requests Dissertations and Theses A&I, and the Cochrane Library were searched. Ten experts were contacted and the reference lists of 12 systematic reviews and 40 primary studies were observed. The number of hits was 3,019, of which 564 duplicates, 2,388 irrelevant references, and 38 that did not meet the inclusion criteria were removed. Fourteen studies using mixed samples had to be omitted because it was not possible to determine the recidivism rates of child molesters in the samples described. One RCT and 9 cohort studies were included in the data synthesis, providing 2,119 participants. In all, 52.1% received the intervention under investigation and 47.9% did not. The reported recidivism rates were 13.9% for the treated child molesters compared to 18.6% for the untreated child molesters. Three studies reported statistically significant lower recidivism rates for treated child molesters. Eight studies were assessed as weak. Four studies were assessed as having bias which increased the chance of finding a treatment effect and four studies were assessed as having bias which reduced the chance of finding a treatment effect. It was not possible to determine the direction of bias for two studies.Jamie S. Walton; Shihning Chouxxhtml-enxxwip de gasitxxx[ngo3407]

AbuzArticolInternationalVoices of Children from Around the Globe; An International Analysis of Children's Issues at Child HelplinesChild helplines around the world are an important mental health resource for many children. In this study, an international database was analysed with a total of 25 million registered calls at a total of 111 helplines affiliated with Child Helpline International. The research was aimed at discovering if there are differences between the reasons for calling of children from different parts of the world, and if shifts in the studied 10-year period can be observed. The data show that all child helplines are contacted by young people seek support with questions concerning abuse, sexual matters and school issues. The results from a mixed model also show significant differences in the reasons for calling between Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, North America, the Pacific region and the region Middle East and North Africa. Child helplines in Africa and other developing parts of the world received many calls related to safety and health (e.g. HIV/AIDS, commercial exploitation), whereas children and young people from Europe, North America and the Pacific more often discussed social and psychosocial issues with the helpline (e.g. mental health, peer and family relations). The reasons for calling were relatively stable for the studied period.Ruben Georges Fukkink*, Suzan Bruns andRudy Ligtvoethtml-enpdf-enxxxwip de gasitxxx[ngo3780]

AbuzArticolSUARecantation and False Allegations
of Child Abuse Selected Bibliography
This bibliography focuses specifically on literature related to recantation and false
allegations of abuse experienced in childhood. The relationship between disclosure,
memory, truthfulness, fantastical storytelling, suggestibility, and coaching with recantation and false allegations is complex. To the extent possible, this bibliography does not, except in passing, delve deeply into those topics, preferring instead to provide guidance to publications that specifically address the core topic of false allegations and recanted accusation. Those other topics so closely intertwined with the issue of false allegations and recantation will be addressed in subsequent bibliographies in this series.

AbuzArticolCanada(2010). Collateral damage: The lived experiences of divorced mothers without custody. Journal of Divorce & Remarriage, 51(8)This qualitative study utilizing narrative analysis and grounded theory examines the history and experiences of 14 Canadian women who have lost custody of their children within a legal divorce process. Each woman's storied experience focused on themes of attachment and loss associated with involuntary child absence, legal abuse within the adversarial system, and judgment based on nonconformity to a motherhood ideal; physical violence and emotional abuse in the family system; access denial and parental alienation; stigma and lack of support services; and serious financial losses. Women's perceptions of their children's needs in the divorce process, mothers' responsibilities in relation to those needs, and the responsibility of social institutions to support mothers as parents were also examined. The study sought mothers' views about needed changes to the legal framework of child custody determination and other priorities. Implications for socio-legal policy are discussed, including a consideration of a rebuttable legal shared parental responsibility presumption as facilitating the most salutary postdivorce outcomes for women and children, as are guidelines for direct service provision.Kruk, E. pdf-enpdf-enxxxwip de gasitxxx[ngo5214]

CetatenestiArticolUKamici curiae - Intervention at the UK Supreme CourtThis article examines the role of interveners before the UK Supreme Court. Interveners are persons who, while neither appellant nor respondent, participate in the litigation process and make submissions to the court in much the same way that either of those parties would. Interveners assist judicial decision-making by providing supplemental information that gives a broader economic and social context to the legal issues in dispute. Through a comparative study of the experience of intervention at the supreme courts of the United States and Canada, this article seeks to provide insights as to how the practice of intervention might develop at the UK Supreme Court in the years to come. It also identifies a number of issues to lay a foundation for further scholarly study in the field.
