Owners of Brockencote Hall Hotel at Chaddesley Corbett want to develop a new functions suite and spa as well extra car parking space.

An application has been submitted by Eden Hotel Collection.

In a report to members of Wyre Forest District Council's planning committee, which meets next Tuesday, the owners say the hotel is a significant contributor to the local economy and that a further 11 full-time posts and 10 part-time posts would be created. It states that the business generates a turnover of £1.5 million each year.

It would also create further jobs indirectly through local business supply chains. The hotel currently employs 39 full-time and five part-time staff. The proposed investment is expected to see turnover increase to nearly £2.4 million per annum and the creation of jobs is said to be a strong argument for giving the go-ahead.

Some members of the Friends of Chaddesley Corbett Village have objected to the scheme on the grounds the of noise pollution, adding the development would be inappropriate. Other objectors have said it will increase traffic along the A448.

Planning officials have recommended delegated approval subject to no objections being received from the Highway Authority and a decision from the Secretary of State not wanting to call-in the application.
