I just finished a wine tour on with Segway of Healdsburg, and I could not be more satisfied! I was made sure to be comfortable on my Segway before we departed, reassured during the tour that I could do it (because I got scared lol), given recommendations at the wineries, given history and great recommendations of things i could do after the tour-- great customer service! The wineries chosen were definitely wineries I would've chosen myself, therefore I was a very happy lady!
The segways themselves were awesome! I've never been on one before but our tour guide gave us a thorough lesson on how to use them and I felt like I was in GREAT hands! My boyfriend got the hang of it a little more than I did, so our guide hung out with me to make sure I was okay-- again, GREAT customer service.
If you are in Healdsburg, this tour is a must! They offer other tours that I am definitely going to come back for & you should too!

Healdsburg + Segway + Pit stops + Beautiful day = Epic Adventures in Wine Country!

Who doesn't think of Mall Cop when you see a Segway? This was so much FUN! Highly recommended, especially with the Living Social deal. I'm all about spontaneity, so I called the number listed on their website and explained to owner Shira I needed to pick up wines in Healdsburg and wanted to do the Segway tour. She put me on a waitlist and called me at noon for the 1pm tour, honoring the Living Social discount at $49. I was ecstatic and asked my friend if he was down to Segway in wine country; he was game!

Our group had a total of eight people and most were beginners. I've been on Segway tours in Golden Gate Park and Nashville, great way to see all the attractions - no tired feet, only happy feet =) It's quite different in wine country, as we steer onto uneven terrain, crossing freeway on/off-ramps, waving at big rigs. Oh wait, I didn't wave, both hands on the handle bars hehe. Our first pit stop was Christopher Creek Winery, talk about a gorgeous hidden gem of a winery. I've never explored this side of Healdsburg before. Guess what...after our wine tasting, the beginners looked like pro's going down the hill via Segways - weeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Our guide Josh was so proud to see everyone unscathed at the bottom of the hill. From there, we headed to pit stop #2 Foppiano Winery, another beautiful winery. Olivia was ready to pour us delicious wines and as bonus, she let us taste the port. Most of us were distracted by the stunning views, we couldn't stop taking pictures. Josh took a group photo of us and off we went back to the parking lot near Giorgio's. I was hoping for more pit stops...oh well. Don't forget to leave a tip, as the cost excludes gratuity and tax.

P.S. The Segway has a large pouch to store your purchased wines up to 3 bottles. Tasting fees are additional, waived when a purchase is made.

Went on a wine tasting tour today!!! What a fun way to get around, safety brief was great, we jumped on and it was so much easier than I expected!
The two wineries we stopped at had great selections and the proprietors were so friendly, and informative. It was fun to be out in the sunshine and breeze, instead of a stuffy bus.
Go, just go you will be so glad you did.

My wife and I had never ridden a Segway before. It worked out great as there was just another couple on the Redwoods tour. We started out at a small empty parking lot to get the hang of it. Then it was off on the roar to the park entrance. It took a bit of time but good practice. Once there we stopped for a bathroom break then off into the Redwood park. Nice and shady, breezy and comfortable today. You might want to wear some bug spray particularly if it's been warm and rainy. I felt each time we stopped I was more relaxed riding on the next leg. Many picture opportunities at each stop. The bag on the Segway was large enough for light coat, hat, phone etc.

I felt the training for this ride was nowhere near what it should have been. I took my first tour on Golden Gate Segways- and I'm so glad I did. They had extensive training- so I was ok with the minimal safety stuff on this one. Unfortunately my friend was going for her first time, so this was not really enough for her. I'm glad she didn't have a mishap, but I would not recommend this outfit.

I thought the ride was not a particularly safe one, and even though I'm fairly good now on a Segway, I'd never combine it with wine again. I didn't drink too much- but I can see how people could, and it's just not a good idea. Do a segway tour OR do wine tasting with a designated driver. The wineries that you taste at aren't even particularly good.

Booked with Shira for three riders on the Groupon rate of $49/pp for the Russian River wineries two hour tour. Had some difficulty because my mom is sort of an overly cautious worrier and doesn't like giving people her credit card info over the phone or online, but we finally booked it. We arrived early because we were told if we got there early we could start early, but that was sorely wrong.

Our tour guide was Joel, a surfer-looking youngster that took a ton of time with my shaky mom to acclimate to the machine, and let the seasoned two of us zip around. The other two people who were grouped with our party were late, and the wife needed extra assistance, so we didn't leave till almost 30 after when we were supposed to. This resulted in us having to rush everything including the wine tasting, the scenic touring, and generally appreciating the event.

Vizlay winery was $10/pp, and the tasting was led by the daughter of the owner, who seemed extremely perturbed that we were rushing her, but it really wasn't our fault. The wines were on the mediocre side, and definitely didn't go with the "complimentary snack" that our tour included, which was one brownie bite from Costco. Despite my requests not to go to Christopher Creek (two for one tastings), we did so anyway, again, rushed and short experience, not really able to savor the wines or the views because of our time limit.

Despite it all, my dad, whose birthday we were celebrating with this excursion, found it to be pleasant, but not great. We both remarked that our experiences with tours in SF on segways were better, more knowledgeable, on time, and generally just more fun. Negative three stars for the lack of time management, one star for Shira's great communication skills helping us to get booked despite our challenges, and one star for Joel's upbeat attention to the stragglers.

If you are ever looking for something fun to do and if you ever happen to be hanging in Sonoma County's wine country, then let this be the perfect adventure for you! You really can't compare this Segway wine tour with the ones being offered in the more touristy areas of San Francisco and Oakland, it's really apples and oranges, but for the value of what it's worth, Segway of Healdsburg is the perfect way to spend two hours of your day on a fun mode of transportation, especially for those who have never done it before.

I wanted to hang out with a friend who suggested wine tasting in the quaint town of Healdsburg, a few miles north of Santa Rosa, and she found a great deal on Living Social for 49 dollars a person for a wine tasting tour of the Russian River Valley via Segways. I thought you only live once, and after botching many a trip on a bicycle and on skis, I could quite frankly do no worse on this! It turns out the Segways that the Segway of Healdburg uses are some of the easiest to navigate and is the best way for a beginner to get acclimated because the terrain of the Russian River Valley is so easy to get around. Sure there are some rough roads and potholes as well as crossing a busy intersection and a freeway on-ramp no less and a small incline to get to our first winery, But other than that, it was smooth sailing and easy navigation and for me, a physically awkward individual and that says a lot.

After we called to see if there was room and asked about the Living Social deal, Segway of Healdburg's owner Shira said if we could get to the 1pm tour (which was their only one of the day on this Thursday afternoon) at the parking lot next to Georgio's Restaurant then she would honor our 49 dollar discounted deal, which didn't include tax or gratuity. All we had to do was share our credit card information over the phone, which I personally had no issues with. When we arrived at about 10 minutes before 1pm, there were already six other people being taught and riding around a fairly large parking lot filled with cars. After our own tutorial which took about 10 minutes a person, our docent Josh took us on a mini street tutorial to get our feet wet, moving around and controlling the Segway. I actually found that quite easy, which was surprising for me because I never find anything easy. But since we were all getting acclimated to the Segways, and I was holding up the rear and we needed to move faster. I suppose we were being so rushed because we had places to go.

From there it was crossing streets, going across train tracks, crossing overpasses over the freeway and finally up the hill to our first stop of two wineries Christopher Creek Winery, which was up a small hill where we were taught how to specifically navigate it. We had a great time at the small but lovely Christopher Creek Winery where we had five excellent pours of various wines ranging from white and red blends to a Pinot Noir to a Syrah. Of special note was the 2014 Viognier, which went down like juice, in fact it was so good my friend bought a bottle from Christopher Creek and our tasting fee was waived as a result. It helps that the Segways have a huge carrier pouch in front in which you can easily buy and carry the wine back to home base!

From there it was back down the hill, which was easier than I thought it would be and off to our second winery tasting room, Foppiano Vineyards, which sounded like an Italian restaurant that specialized in wood fired pizzas. But alas, all they had was a nice tasting room and a patio with a gorgeous view of the vineyard. Here we also got five tasting pours on top of an extra pour of their Port that they make on site. I especially loved the Estate Sauvignon Blanc, which was so good and affordable that this time it was me buying the bottle and getting our tasting room fee waved again. I also loved the other wines they poured for us at Foppiano including the Chardonnay, the Zinfandel and the Petite Syrah.

From there it was a group picture time, which was ask Josh to take and he graciously did so, and it was back to where we once came, the parking lot where we first trained. We paid for our adventure through our signature and adding gratuity for our docent Josh. Two hours certainly flew by fast, I wish we had another winery to go to with a more exciting terrain because for those of us who weren't drinking I fear for them it may have been a bit of a bore, so be forewarned that this trip is for us winos only! And don't worry once you get some wine in you the driving actually gets easier!

Segways of Healdsburg gave me an opportunity to try out a fun adventure at an affordable price and I not only got to meet some new people but also hang out with a good friend while drinking wine and riding around the valley. Thanks to them and their deal, I now have no fear of riding in a Segway in San Francisco along the Embarcadero or in Oakland along Jack London Waterfront. The skies (and roads) are the limit!

We had a great time on this tour. Shira and Mitch were very helpful in training all of us on how to use the Segway and led us on a fun trip with two winery visits. I understand the tour was supposed to be only two hours long, but I enjoyed riding the Segway so much that I wished it was longer, especially when you can enjoy the beautiful Russian River scenery along the way. Highly recommend it.

Just a fun thing to do with Josh & Ben as our guides. Those 2 were very good to train you as we met the Gurneville Park & Ride Lot to do the Armstrong Redwoods tour. We had never Segwayed. I was unsure and I got more comfortable as I rode. Josh & Ben took care of us very well - training, watchful of riders and traffic, patient. Heading to the Redwoods, we did have to take some of the street which was fine as the area was mellow. As guides, they knew to pay attention to all of and chat.

We had the Groupon for the wine tour but they bumped us up to the Armstrong tour as that was the only one they were doing that day which was an even better deal. This tour they said you get to Segway more which was what we wanted to do. The tour was beautiful/scenic with some stops to show us some great spots - circle of trees, largest tree, etc. The snack stop was nice with some fruit, popcorn & coffee cakes. They gave us a bottle of water.

If you do this tour, make sure to really wear layers as it did chill down in there. I was deceived as the Park & Ride lot was hot, but once we entered the Redwoods it chilled way down. I wished I had on my warmer jacked rather than just the hoodie.

If you are considering what to do - definitely do this one as it was soooo fun
