Why this petition matters

Started by Mike Stead

Cycling is a healthy, environmental friendly, safe and sustainable transport choice which should be actively encouraged/promoted within a National Park.

The present draft management plan makes no mention of cycling as a sustainable transport option, and elsewhere restricts it for harmless exercise, usually requiring a car to travel to/from the cycling location.

Existing cycling routes in the park are frequently disjointed, substandard and  unsuitable for all abilities of resident or visitor.

If the NFNPA puts cycling at the heart of its resident and visitor transport strategy the park will greatly benefit from reduced internal traffic, less harm caused to wildlife, more money spent in local businesses and more visitors attracted.
