David Cameron offers guarantee on primary school sport funding

No 10 hopes pledge of £150m a year under Tory government will reassure headteachers that funds will keep coming after 2015

A two-year dedicated English primary school PE fund was announced in March and began in September 2013, but there has been uncertainty in schools over whether the funding will stop after the election, and some headteachers have been reluctant to take up the funding this year or undertake any capital investment.

Flood guidance – helping sports clubs be prepared

Floods can have a devastating impact on sports clubs, causing significant damage to both changing and social facilities as well as to sports pitches.

There is much that can be done to help reduce the risk of flood damage and mitigate its impact when it occurs. Sport England, working with a number of national governing bodies for sport (The FA, RFU, RFL, ECB, LTA and EHB), has produced a set of information sheets and a downloadable template for clubs and facility managers to help them find out whether their facilities are at risk of flooding and if so how to develop a flood plan and other strategies that will help reduce the impact of flooding.

She said the “costs of physical inactivity” were clear following a rise in   weight problems among children over the last decade.
