One famous conductor was Harriet Tubman. Being a conductor was very dangerous for her because she was an escaped slave. She was willing to risk her life in order to help other slaves. She wanted all slaves to have a chance to be free. She continued to be a conductor until Abraham Lincoln ended all slavery in America. The Underground Railroad was stopped when slavery ended.
